A really nice read, how we miss Stan, often wonder what happened to dear old Aromagician, down there in Australia,........much happier days. .

An amateur egyptologist and bon viveur , formerly resident in Luxor, has unearthed a rare article on the 18th Dynasty pharaoh Amenhotep III.

The site of the discovery - L4U Forum - is currently being besieged by two or three interested observers.

Although the article is somewhat rambling and difficult to follow, current investigations date it circa Oct 2013 in what is generally referred to as the 'archive period'.

Were there French archaeologists working on this about 6 or 7 years ago?

If so, I got as close as the door but there is no way they were going to let me any further. It was embarrassing really because I was being taken round by one of the senior security personnel at the request (demand) of one of the local archaeological big wigs - embarrassing because this had all be laid on for me the woman who really isn't that interested, and because the security chap and the French archaeologist had a 'discussion about my being allowed in. The discussion got louder and more and more animated - she won and I wasn't allowed in. She was foolish to a point though as she had no idea who I was with my little entourage of Egyptian men. Strange day!

The date on my own pictures are 2007 Hepzi and it was not in the process of any restoration work at that time, maybe JL's image was taken after that date?

I have just gone through my camera rolls from my camera and not found it in the December 2012 album, so either it was March 2012, or taken on my phone in December 2012.

It was certainly Post revolution, as everything was so easy to get at, and it was great to see so many locals around these sites at that time.

My 100LE also bought me a guided tour further East, and in and around some workshops. All very interesting.
Until some suits turned up, and they didn't look too happy.....

Thinking about it, it would have been pre-revolution that I was taken there, so thinking probably 2009/2019. The French seemed to be doing a lot measurements and work in the general area.

Unfortunately, this was already the 'poor' condition of Sekhmet, long before the so called restoration of this small shrine dedicated to the wife of Ptah, who's temple this photograph was certainly taken, well off the beaten track, and to the north of the main Karnak complex.

I bet you certainly got your boots dirty that day John,............with almost eighteen ins of dust that covers that area.

P.S. - this goddess was known as 'She who opens the ways of the stormy rains'.,.......a little food for thought, for those who wish to study this rather complex deity.
