Are Warrens dangerous, do they attack humans, Ive never seen any in the Nile.
Worry doesn't help tomorrow's troubles,
but it does ruin today's happiness.

I have just spent a very pleasant few hours visiting with George. Sat on his corniche supping juice while watching warrans, dragonflies and kingfishers above the water and myriads of fish below the water. His mesala is looking rather pink but he assures me it will be granite hued after Tuesday. I also learned the art of communicating with turkeys.

I was up that way a few nights ago, watching the bats feeding by the canal. Nice. 8)

Needless to say, the tranquil walk down the sugar cane track was not as quiet as I had imagined.

My god I am so naïve ! Ya Whala !!

Anyhow, mrs Z is staying in with the TV and some Cheese butties.

I will go pester Ali at the AFrica for some samek and read me book and watch the wheels go round. 8)

I'm afraid that will have to wait until I get back to blighty Moonstone, and I have had a careful think about what to write.

Here's a clue.......

It was all to do with an Innocent stroll around Gezera after my evening meal at the Africa restaurant..

I set off down th emain road towards the river, then turned right, down the path along the river to the water pump.

As I headed up the water pipe, through the sugar cane field's in search of some peace and quiet, 2 young me came out of the field on my right side and they followed me up to the first canal.

There at the crossroads they parted company, but one of them followed me wanting to "talk" with me..
Realising my pace and quiet had been interrupted, I said.. "David, Jollie Ville, 2 weeks, 10 days left". Basically pre-empting the benign questions he was about to ask me...

He then offered to take me into the sugar cane fields for sex !!

WTF !!

I could have kicked his arse and told him to clear off, especially as he was not taking "No" for an answer, but instead, I gave him 5 quid and told him to leave me alone and think about what he was doing, never mind the dangers he was exposing himself to.. "But if you have chosen this path, then good luck to you...Marsalaama"..

He left me alone after that, and I got to watch the bat's flying around by the lights at the next bridge, and seeing the Warrens scattering whenever I got too close..

It's certainly peaceful around that area, and although not as quite as it is here at my house in Wales, certainly a nice respite from the constant noise and chatter in Luxor..

How did I guess that that was exactly what had happened! :snig: Next time borrow a dog on a lead to take with you, they won't come within 30 meters of you then and the dog gets a nice walk too!

Go you! You have managed to tell your tale of being propositioned and NO-ONE (yet) has chipped in to tell you that it must have been your fault, for walking the sugarcane lanes or for just being there. Not a whiff of a suggestion that you must not be respectable and are leading the young men of Luxor astray by flaunting your obvious charms.
Do I detect the unmistakable whiff of a double standard?

I can sympathise with your distress at being propositioned by a young boy (or was it a young man?) however, he still earned himself 5 LE for offering you sex and that cannot be a good lesson for him to have learned, the kick up the arse may have had more effect. No doubt that like the gigolos that frequent the Corniche their actions must be inspired by past experiences in that particular locality, truly a sad state of affairs all round when a person cannot take a stroll without them seeming to be looking for sex.
