FACT: If you take the larger snails from your garden, paint blobs on them with nail varnish, put them out in the field - THEY WILL RETURN to the same lettuce in a couple of days. Experiment proven by me , now they get eaten .

Beer gives her a lovely shiny coat - hows your hair, Horus ?
   I can reliably report a full head of extremely glossy hair ;)

Very interesting fact about the 'homing snails' :) I knew pidgeons did that, but not snails
I am off for a 5 mile walk along a very scenic canal later today, so I will take a couple with me and see if they get back before I do

Now where does Mrs H keep her (s)nail varnish? .....................

Talking of having them with a drink, have you noticed how attracted to beer your typical snail seems to be? sink a plastic coffee cup into your garden soil, half fill it with beer or lager, leave it overnight and it will usually be full of drowned, drunken snails by the morning. :)

"What a way to go" drowned in beer :)

I heard that the best way to clear snails from your garden is to leave half a grapefruit skin out and they all climb into it. Then you pick it up and toss it into your neighbours garden - job done!
