My ginger seems to sprout just when I leave it on the kitchen table for too long I love ginger but rarely use it these days (too hot to cook) so this is what happened! I bought now a new one and remembered to grate it and put in to the freezer.

I keep the whole stem in the freezer in a bag and grate it as I need it. It grates easily when it is frozen

I break mine up into knobbles and then freeze them - then if I need slices or strips it's easy to defrost a small section.
Just starting to make my ginger beer, remember making it as a child, hope it works.

Yeah Horus that's the ginger beer plant when after 5 days if my ginger beer is Ok then I will start to feed the dregs and that's my plant ready to go again. Bit like a starter when you make yogurt.
