The Knights Templars

Post by Who2 »

Always a favourite topic of mine as I nearly live in the precincts of The Poor Knights of St John of Jerusalem, now rebranded St John's Ambulance. As a full time para we thought that they where only good for 'horsy events, the odd football matches and showing re-runs of The Exorcist.

I once knew The Reverence Christopher Neil Smith of St Saviours, he was then the Church's full time Exorcist.
Anyhow, back to the inspiration:....

My music computer threw up Tubular bells..

"Now not a-lot of people know this but...!

Tubular Bells saved Branson's Virgin records,
Richard as always the 'cheapskate had a recording studio on a wide-boat in Little Venice. Aptly named 'The Barge,
all the famous musicians had etched their names in candle smoke on the barges' ceiling.

Mike Oldfield was obviously a very insular person his sister Sally was far more outgoing.
Lets face it, if you can play all of the instruments on that album, your highly talented but not highly sociable.

'My Mate, Nick (big-nose) tried to buy for 30k, as usually 'skint and lost out to a local 'boater guy he hated...
Mike joined an Esoteric Society I was in for 15years, but only stayed for 8 months..... 8)

Ps: Almost forgot! Just finished The Last Templar far superior the film which I will did out tonight..

I remember back in the day Tubular bells saving Virgin records.
Both my wife and I like that album, we have it upstairs on vinyl somewhere.

First time I heard moonlight shadow was when I was driving to work one morning. Fell in love with it on the first hearing.

I was surprised Sally didn't do the vocals, but Maggie Rielly did a great job.
Loved the very clever video that went along with the song. Certainly a song of the times back then, one I like to revisit every now and again.

I do love music, it's esoteric...
As Plato may have said. Life is music, or rather.

Music is a moral law. It gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination, and charm and gaiety to life and to everything.
Don't look back. That's not the direction you are travelling towards.
