Still Happy...
Just been invited to lunch tomorrow at Al Moudira, great Ziena the 'mind behind the hotel,
haven't seen her for 6 years can't wait. But there's not such thing as a 'free-lunch.

My invitee is an American / Egyptian film-maker,
'a right clever bugger, who has an excellent memory, always puts me on my garde,
"What's he want ? ....'but hey! the hamburgers around the pool are to die for..
"c'est la vie or higher helwa"....
My song for this Tony B. 'what-else ? "push the play"...NOW!

I'll take the iPhone....tbc.. 8)

Ps: This is the guy that refurbished my 'slum, I took him to Al Moudira for ideas, look at that antique Mashrabiya..

Reading about the Al Moudira Hotel just now I had a memory flashback...
The first time I visited the Al Moudira Hotel was by the invitation of a local business person who, for some reason, wanted to impress me. They failed. I recall I liked the building, or at least what I saw of it, (although I did find leaping over a pipework channel challenging). The food, a fancy beef burger and chips if I recall, ordered for me by my host, was OK but no more than OK, and not at all what I would have chosen from the menu if I had been offered a choice.
So, overall an underwhelming lunch and experience.
Business person and I lost contact some years back, but they never did manage to really impress me in the way they thought.

:tk To be honest, I might have more easily been won over by a newspaper cone of of falafel from the Tuesday souk, or a bowl of fuul or mulakhia and a chunk of shams loaf (sun risen bread? forgot the actual name). :)
