Medical Letter , Do i need one ?

Post by Luxormad »

Just been reading all the info in the email from my Easyjet booking and found this bit where it says, if you bring any medication , you will need a Doctors letter saying that that you need it and how much you have brought with you.
Never heard of this before , i'm Diabetic so will bring my Insulin with me and my statin tablets, like i allways have , does anyone know if you need this letter , or can i just bring my prescription with me to show that i need it.
Any help would be very welcome.

I bring lots of codeine tablets. I've never been asked about them but always bring my prescription to prove they're all for me just in case.

I'm on various tablets, and whilst I don't bring the actual prescription, I do make sure that they're all in the correct boxes with my name etc on them. Never had a problem in 25 years.
I'm surprised that hatusu brings in Codeine, I was under the impression that they were one of those which were banned altogether. Live and learn eh?

I just pop down to the local pharmacy with my empty boxes. No problem.

The fact that hatusu takes in Codiene tablets surprises me also. Over many years visiting Luxor I became friendly with a man and his wife who ran a pharmacy in Fayrouz and one year he asked me if I had any Codiene Phosphate tablets. As it was I was on those tablets and he asked me if I could spare any as his wife suffered great pain and they could not get Codiene just as they could not get Tramadol. So just in case and not to find myself in trouble if I was hatusu in future I would take the prescription with me and also a letter from doctor.

I personally would think "Doctors Letter" would mean "Prescription". The Egyptian language doesn't have the wide vocabulary of the English language.

Of course that will be right! How stupid of me not to have realised that before now. Thanks hatusu.

I flew to Rome with easyjet in August and was asked to provide a Doctors letter stating what medication I was on and why. I got the letter at a cost of £25 and also put a copy of my prescription in with my medication, as I always have. I was not asked once in security in the UK or Italy for the letter, even though easyjet customer service said I could be barred from flying without it. I know my doctors receptionist said they were being asked by a lot of patients for this letter.
