Neck Fans
Does anyone on the forum have any experience of Neck Fans? I've not come across them before. Do they really keep you cool or do they give you a bad neck? (I must say most of the reviews are good)
This is for when I come back to Luxor in a couple of months - don't think I'll have much need of one in Yorkshire.........

Re: Neck Fans
They’re pretty cheap and certainly available in Egypt.
I’ve heard the battery can sometimes overheat!
I gather they’re handy for dealing with menopausal hot flushes. Whether they’d cope with Luxor temperatures is another matter

Re: Neck Fans
I've never heard of a neck fan before. So had to look them up. I think if I owned one I'd still be wanting to put a layer of cotton between it and my skin as I imagine the casing would irritate my skin, especially in heat.
Personally, I think I would be feeling more comfortable with one of those coolie bands - think they possibly went by an Australian name back in the day.

Re: Neck Fans
Anything to do with keeping cool intrigued me So I looked it up..

Not impressed, damp scarf far better.
I ended up constructing hi-powered water fans, hilarious fun.
Remember those down on the lower corniche ? great stuff!
But my all around the old adobe shack, outside the high-powered sprinklers have worked a treat for years.
And when I return they will all work again 'with a few cans of WD40....
Are there any electric scooters in Luxor ?.....
Ps: The neck fan looks like a daft waste of money. imho...but what the hell...

This might be more expensive, but more useful in Luxor temperatures I suspect.hatusu wrote: Wed Jul 06, 2022 9:10 pm I think when it's pushing 40C plus in Luxor I'll be prepared to risk £20 on one ............

Re: Neck Fans
Perhaps you need one with its own solar panel for keeping it charged up.

Re: Neck Fans
32oC here they reckon, a right load of wusses. Don't go out, drink fluids else you're all going to die.
They reckon it might reach the 40's this Sunday, good!
Bet those queues in Heathrow will regret flying for some sun abroad, Sunday.
Personally I blame the tourists, not the 'cack handed airport.
Do they really think it's all over ? the mind boggles.
"But we deserve it! We haven't been abroad for 3 years!" and 'We are.... British"
Therein lies your problem, f**** numpties....

"Carry On? ''your own luggage"
Ps: 1 in every 24 people here have covid, just a thought!

Re: Neck Fans
Just received my neck fan from Amazon. I'm delighted with it. Its very comfortable without a scarf (although I've only worn it a short time to test it out) I think it will be a blessing in Luxor.

Re: Neck Fans
Glad your neck fan works,
My pal Rury is just down from Edinburgh he's schmoozing down at Bafta for a few weeks.
He nearly passed out here on his 1st day back in the 'smoke.
He's a ginger fitness freak and knows all the other freaks at 5am on their morning workouts.
But, it's not that sunny North of the border, I told him when he arrived 1. in every 24. Londoners caught covid last week.
Simona and her beau have gone to Brighton for the day.ha!

Brighton yesterday, 'I used to go to Brighton on my scooter.
Anyhow as of today it is 1 in every 17 people that caught covid...
"Over ? 'I don't think so, it's just biding it's time..!
Ps: It was over 2 years ago when i predicted 200,000 UK covid deaths.
We've reached it, "So 'cough-up whoever took that bet....

Re: Neck Fans
It's fascinating sometimes how the start of a thread on here morphs into something completely different through a number of posts. How many posts do you need to get from " Neck Fans" to "Gay Dating Websites"??
