The Turkey Trust

Post by Who2 »

I'm coming up with another idea for the 'pension pot.
The Turkey Trust .com
Now to be registered as..... "The Xmas Turkey Trust" 'due to 817 references to Turkey and Trust on Her Maj's:
CHARITY COMMISSION FOR ENGLAND AND WALES.

In the month leading up to next coming Xmas 2022, We or I will start saving turkeys from a certain death..
And then let them happily wander around on a farm until they die a natural death.

So: "Save a Turkey this Christmas" donate just just £19.99p to save the life of a Turkey. nb: all major CC's accepted.
"We will send/email you a picture and the wishbone of said adopted Turkey, upon it's natural passing.
note to author ! this needs lots of work........ 8)

Ps: I think I'll start a small campaign first on FB to 'test the waters...
Pss: This year, I'm plumping for a gressingham duck and a guinea fowl.

In the UK a few months back there was news circulating that Turkeys were going to be in short supply this year, with the advice to order early even if it still might not be supplied. I heard some people proudly boasting of having stocked their freezers with turkey for Christmas, but this was way back in September or October. Well either not enough people panic bought or there has been a fast breeding and growing programme for turkeys because my local supermarket shelves were full of them today - in every guise possible: whole, breasts, legs, crowns, rolled, stuffed, with gizzards, without gizzards... etc. I didn't look, but I imagine the freezers were fairly full too.
Alas for me, much as I like it, I wasn't looking for turkey. I was looking for duck breasts which came ready cooked in plum sauce. Could I find any. Nah! But there's always plan B... or am I on C now?

Plenty of duck in my local Sainsbury's today. I think I managed to get the last couple of packs of precooked duck legs in a red wine, plum, and blackberry sauce though.
I know buying the pre-prepared ones is the lazy cooks way of doing things, but as we have no idea how many people will be coming to lunch yet it's a very convenient and time saving way of doing things. Hopefully by next Christmas I will have an oven and be able to host my own, fully home cooked, Christmas lunch.
