????????????????Major Thom wrote: ↑Sat Apr 11, 2020 4:43 pm Well there are quite a few ex pats that would not fit in here in Cyprus let me tell you. Its a very different world here and many would end up back home......IN COVENTRY.....Why do I say this? Well most of the ex pats here do not get into other peoples business for a start, if you start calling people you will get cast aside and have no friends, if you gossip about anyone and are in company your company will just get up and walk away, its not acceptable here. Finally if you think you are in a clique here then think again what you think will be wrong, cliques are only acceptable in families. The village I live in people help each other, people value each other, people do not ridicule each other in any form, if you upset the apple cart it will be time for you to move. People if they have any form of disagreement talk about it among themselves in private and not for everyone in the room or even dare I say on a mini bus to listen into so others can get involved. That is ignorant, arogant and moronlike. You see my memory for my age is still not bad.

Re: Who wants to be in Cyprus?
Not sure about this sentence MT, are you suggesting ex pats SHOULD get involved in other people's business? If you mean helping out in the local chippy then that's fine! Why do I say this? Well most of the ex pats here do not get into other peoples business for a start,

I'm very happy here off the tourist trail in the Ibizan countryside.

I envy you.
I suppose the almond blossom “snow” has gone now....but perhaps the orange blossom is still around. I remember walking around lanes heavy with the scent.
It must seem strange in town...no clubs, bars , restaurants getting ready for the opening of the season.
I hear from friends there that many of the big venues (Amnesia etc.) are living in denial....hoping against hope that summer will be as usual.

I doubt if MD attends Amnesia, more likely she's gyrating away at Manumission....

Given how much MajorThom is beginning to post about Cyprus i.e the whole negativity, I am reminded (and oh how I've tried to forget) of the posts he made in the relatively early days of his life in Luxor.
I cannot help but wonder where is next on his search for Eutopia. At least at the moment, with so few distractions to take up his time he should have ample time for good and thorough research.

Re: Who wants to be in Cyprus?
Actually I've been out once in the last month to go to the dentist.
There is very tight lockdown here. A friend went to the supermarket and on the way home stopped and got out of her car, just to breathe the salt air and look at the sea for a couple of minutes whilst standing right next to her car. A policeman arrived, spent half an hour form filling and gave her a ticket for €600. No messing.
I have begun to wonder if they are scouting with drones. They just seem to appear at exactly the right time and place.

All clubs are shut, but my favourite is Pikes. George Michael's Club Tropicana was filmed there when he was about 18 years old.
