Query re Pricing of books
Ive just had an email to advise me that one of my favourite authors, Kate Ellis has a new book out. Can anybody explain the reason why the Kindle edition is £5 more expensive than the paperback edition? I would have though it would be the other way round (not a complaint, a genuine question).

Re: Query re Pricing of books
There are loads of 'ladies books at ACE charity shop, plus exchange 2 for 1.
Most normally priced at under 20le....
Ps: Just noticed Ms Ellis pens detective novels not Downton Abbey type books.

Re: Query re Pricing of books
Hatusu, basically Amazon have no control over the e-book version, so if someone has taken the effort to produce the e-book then they can ask whatever they want to charge for it, very similar to an audio version of a novel or paperback. For example I have some audio books by famous authors being read by well known personalities and some are over 40 hours long, so imagine the expense of producing that as opposed to a paperback.

If so, the Kindle price is £5.99 and the paperback £6.99.

Re: Query re Pricing of books
Aaahhh...I see. Apologies. I was confused by your reference to a book now out.
Here’s an explanation:
https://www.csmonitor.com/Business/Savi ... st-so-much
If I were you, I’d hang on until next Feb and keep my fingers crossed

Re: Query re Pricing of books
Well Im certainly not going to pay £13.99 no matter how good it is, I'll just go back and reread the others. Its no problem because its like watching all the reruns of Poirot, Miss Marple etc when i go back in the summer ie no matter how many times Ive read/watched them - I can never remember Who Done It! (There are advantages in getting older)

I can relate to that!hatusu wrote: ↑Thu Sep 12, 2019 10:48 am Well Im certainly not going to pay £13.99 no matter how good it is, I'll just go back and reread the others. I speed read which often means the “plot” of a novel vanishes from memory after a short while.
I have a vast Kindle library and can always turn to a book I bought a couple of years ago and enjoy reading it as if it were new. Only the odd incident makes me wonder “have I read this before ? “

Re: Query re Pricing of books
Could it be that these are pre-release prices? Wondering if it will be more realistic once on the shelves.

Re: Query re Pricing of books
I think you are correct on that Hepzi, most of this stuff starts to drop after a few weeks of being out and I would expect that Kindle version to be much cheaper.
