Turkish Airlines?
Last autumn Turkish Airlines announced the start of direct Istanbul-Luxor flights from late September 2019. I remember that Carrie looked some time ago and said that the flights were on Saturdays from September 29th. This morning I've looked at Turkish Airlines online booking and at ebookers for flights next January, but can find no trace of direct flights, only Turkish Airlines to Cairo then EgyptAir Cairo to Luxor. Anyone got an update?

I've done a dummy booking with Turkish Airlines site on Friday 3rd Jan and this was the result. However I couldn't get up any return flights which seems rather odd. There is a layover of 1hr 25mins in Istanbul. Hope that helps.

Re: Turkish Airlines?
The 25 min layover at Istanbul would worry me.
Turkish Airline is notorious for missing luggage in transits via Istanbul.....and not terribly quick on locating and forwarding it.

Re: Turkish Airlines?
Thanks Crewmeal, but I live in Turkey, not the UK, and would be travelling from Istanbul. 25 minutes in Istanbul? OK if you stay on the plane, absolutely NOT OK if you have to transit!!! The new airport is huge, with very long walks between gates, at least 2 hours us recommended!

Oh Newcastle tell me about it, only once have I lost my luggage and that was in transfer between Istanbul and Dalaman. Hopefully every thing will go well this time. See you soon Y.

Re: Turkish Airlines?
Apologies Crewmeal for misreading your original post.
Mind you, I’d still be nervous about my luggage following me to Luxor.
I lost count of the occasions of mislaid luggage on UK flights to Hurghada via Istanbul.

Re: Turkish Airlines?
You have a good point Newcastle, but what's the alternative travelling to Luxor? Many won't fly Egyptair as mentioned elsewhere on this forum. Turkish have a reputation for losing baggage. The only option left is flying via Hurghada or taking the train from Cairo. That's high risk because of the state of the Egyptian railway system.
For me I'll put my life in the hands of Egyptair!
