During the ‘Techne Summit’ 2018 conference held at the Bibliotheca Alexandria, Minister of Communications and Information Technology Amr Talaat announced on Saturday that there will be over 20 government services available on mobile applications by mid-2019.
Talaat added that these government services include health insurance, vehicle licensing, taxation documents, and notary offices, stressing that the documents would be immediately received through the application without having to go to the service offices.
The initiative is considered to be one of the steps taken to transform Egypt into a digital country, which President Abdel Fattah Al Sisi eagerly called for at the National Youth Conference recently held on July 29.According to the Statistics Portal.

Let's hope the project is more successful than the online visa system which has been beset with problems......not least of which is the inability of some immigration staff to recognise a visa which you've bought and had issued!

Re: High tech Egypt??
The so-called Summit - of what- has speakers as undistinguished as the Egyptian Minister. 95% - possibly more - were from Egypt from firms no one has ever heard of.
Interestingly the 4 IT hot spots in the world at the moment China, the US, India and the dreadful Jews sent not a person nor were their companies represented by Egypt based slaves - because they have nothing in Egypt.
The question for Egypt is very simple and its not about gadgets nor glamorous conferences. In the short term can Egypt develop an IT manufacturing capacity based on Overseas investment and local high-quality process working skills, The answer is probably not because of poor local skills, particularly supervisory and management skills and no one trusts Egypt on copyright.
They need to start simple with basic consumer IT products but there is something in the Egyptian Lower Middle Class and Middle Class which regards manufacturing and factories as undignified. Egyptian men seem to regard it as emasculating. India and China, and others are powering ahead based on large scale manufacturing and after decades even places like Vietnam make $US160 Gant shirts whereas 10 years ago they were made in Turkey and 20 years ago in Portugal.
Lets assume the 20 agencies employ a million people. Lets assume they get a China generic for $US450. Lets assume that training id another $US100 so its over half a billion. A sensible manager, none in Egypt, would identify what jobs need them and be concerned about duplication between existing lap tops and desktop machines. Surely a priority job does not include those desk bound staff who have access to desk or laps. Surely its mobility suits it to jobs that are out of the office a lot and communicating with/obtaining information from clients/customers/citizens? But of course such staff are low status and personally undeserving of the high status tablet - whatever their job need for such is.
My point here as in many other cases including the recent announcement that 50 million were to be tested for HepC is that the thinking is blanket/cookie cutter thinking. A single solution applied to all situations - whatever the need or lack of it. Usually such thinking is found in low IQ people or people with Asperger's etc.
Buying millions of presumably tablets is not going to help anyone - its just an expensive image stunt with a subsidiary objective of flattering the staff. Will they follow up with a full training course on how to get the max out of the tablets - probably not because training is boring and time consuming and dignified people find it humiliating. Wouldn't the wireless coverage be a bit questionable. What about Israeli Security intercepts and all the rules on looking after the tablets in a very hot climate. Who will repair so many given the shortage of such skills in Egypt.
