An Egyptian governmental committee established to seize and manage the funds of the Muslim Brotherhood (MB) confiscates the assets of 16 Brotherhood members, Al-Ahram Arabic news website reported.

Among those whose assets were confiscated are the children of Brotherhood spiritual leader Sheikh Youssef El-Qaradawi, who currently resides in Qatar.

The committee also announced the confiscation of the Cairo Portal company for publishing and distribution, which is owned by Abdel-Wahad Ashour and Sherif Ashour.

Among the affected entities are Radioshack, Mobile Shop, Computer Shop, leading companies for electronic and electric devices in Egypt.

Last Thursday, the committee announced the confiscation of the Arab International Company for Commercial Agencies, the parent company of Alef bookstores.

Egypt has around 35 branches of Alef bookstores in different provinces such as Cairo, Alexandria, North Coast, Ismailia, Suez, Mansoura in addition to another branch in England, according to the Arabic Network for Human Rights Information (ANHRI).

The committee assigned state-run Akhbar Al Youm investment company to run all the bookstore’s branches in Egypt.

Akhbar Al-Youm will also manage Business News company, which owns and manages Daily News Egypt.

I bought a phone charger from Radioshack yesterday. Sounds like I got in just in time! None of the staff were sporting beards as far as I recall

Daily News Egypt has been blocked for some time. Now that it's been taken under State ownership (via Al Youm) I expect it to be unblocked....but with its content more acceptable to the powers that be ;)
