Why would I risk MY money? I don't expect other than a Tory victory next Thursday.

But if she fails to increase her majority to any significant degree, the look on May's face will be priceless.

That'll do for me :lol:

I'm struggling to understand why you, or anyone else, thinks I give a sh*t about who wins the election, or what happens re Brexit :a8:

Like it will have any bearing on MY life. :urm:

Maybe I've overdone the combative debating... :tk

What's really bugging me at the moment is the b'stard who sold me 2 buoyancy aids yesterday. They both have punctures and are probably rejects. A second visit to Ahmed the Asshole is on the schedule for this afternoon :a1:

You really do not need to take floatation aids for a Nile Cruise, they have their own. :)))

Maybe I'll keep the duff ones in case the cruise becomes unbearable ;)

UK General Election 2017 polls: Jeremy Corbyn's Labour narrows gap with Tories to just three points.

Not that I'm bothered, you understand ;)

Probably down to younger, student types who - when push come to shove - don't get off their a*ses to vote, preferring to sit in a pub watching it all on TV :lol:

I cant help admitting to a feeling of schadenfreude at the prospect of all these ‘young’ voters and ‘Lefties’ putting labour back into power. :P I will still be all right Jack, pension triple lock, free bus pass, Winter fuel payment and maybe even a bigger Christmas bonus to go with it? :a41: The EU stuffing up any chance of a deal without mass migration, all on 10 quid an hour, companies fleeing as Jezza taxes them to death, country on the bones of its arse and begging the IMF to bail us out …. again! Maybe then they too will realise why the ‘old gits’ don’t trust a Labour government as they and their kids start paying the price …. again!

Missed a trick there Newcastle, prime opportunity to let us know that if the same happened in Britain post Brekky we wouldnt have the warm safety blanket of lovely EU legislation giving us consumer protections.

I'll have you know the Consumer Protection Agency of Egypt (CPA) acquired both civil and judicial mandates by law No. 67 that was issued in 2006. The CPA is currently supervised by the Minister of Supply & Internal Trade. The agency coordinates with all market regulators as well as international organizations. Ahmed the Asshole was impressed when I recited my rights.....before explaining that I should take my complaint to the CPA then :urm: It appears they don't have an office or representation in Hurghada :(

Newcastle, I have to say that I have become very fond of the name you have given to your seller of marine accoutrements, indeed ‘Ahmed the Asshole’ would seem to be a fitting nomenclature for such a man. So much so that it put me in mind of this poem that I have reproduced here for your perusal and elucidation. ;)

Abdul Abulbul Amir
The sons of the prophet were hardy and bold,
And quite unaccustomed to fear,
But the bravest of these was a man, I am told
Named Abdul Abulbul Amir.

This son of the desert, in battle aroused,
Could spit twenty men on his spear.
A terrible creature, both sober and soused
Was Abdul Abulbul Amir.

When they needed a man to encourage the van,
Or to harass the foe from the rear,
Or to storm a redoubt, they had only to shout
For Abdul Abulbul Amir.

There are heroes aplenty and men known to fame
In the troops that were led by the Czar;
But the bravest of these was a man by the name
Of Ivan Skavinsky Skivar.

He could imitate Irving, play Euchre and pool
And perform on the Spanish Guitar.
In fact, quite the cream of the Muscovite team
Was Ivan Skavinsky Skivar.

The ladies all loved him, his rivals were few;
He could drink them all under the bar.
As gallant or tank, there was no one to rank
With Ivan Skavinsky Skivar.

One day this bold Russian had shouldered his gun
And donned his most truculent sneer
Downtown he did go, where he trod on the toe
Of Abdul Abulbul Amir

"Young man," quoth Bulbul, "has life grown so dull,
That you're anxious to end your career?
Vile infidel! Know, you have trod on the toe
Of Abdul Abulbul Amir."

"So take your last look at the sunshine and brook
And send your regrets to the Czar;
By this I imply you are going to die,
Mr. Ivan Skavinsky Skivar."

Quoth Ivan, "My friend, your remarks, in the end,
Will avail you but little, I fear,
For you ne'er will survive to repeat them alive,
Mr. Abdul Abulbul Amir!"

Then this bold mameluke drew his trusty chibouque
With a cry of "Allah Akbar!"
And with murderous intent, he ferociously went
For Ivan Skavinsky Skivar.

They parried and thrust and they side-stepped and cussed
'Till their blood would have filled a great pot.
The philologist blokes, who seldom crack jokes,
Say that hash was first made on that spot.

They fought all that night, 'neath the pale yellow moon;
The din, it was heard from afar;
And great multitudes came, so great was the fame
of Abdul and Ivan Skivar.

As Abdul's long knife was extracting the life -
In fact, he was shouting "Huzzah!" - -
He felt himself struck by that wily Kalmuck,
Count Ivan Skavinsky Skivar.

The sultan drove by in his red-breasted fly,
Expecting the victor to cheer;
But he only drew nigh to hear the last sigh
Of Abdul Abulbul Amir.

Czar Petrovich, too, in his spectacles blue
Rode up in his new crested car.
He arrived just in time to exchange a last line
With Ivan Skavinsky Skivar.

A loud-sounding splash from the Danube was heard
Resounding o'er meadows afar;
It came from the sack fitting close to the back
Of Ivan Skavinsky Skovar.

There's a tomb rises up where the blue Danube flows;
Engraved there in characters clear;
"Ah stranger, when passing, please pray for the soul
Of Abdul Abulbul Amir."

A Muscovite maiden her lone vigil keeps,
'Neath the light of the pale polar star;
And the name that she murmurs as oft as she weeps
Is Ivan Skavinsky Skivar

I'm much obliged Horus.

While vaguely aware of the poem (and even more vaguely of some obscene rugby song variations) I had never read it through.

A sad tale indeed of how arguments, between two worthy souls with differing outlooks, can escalate and lead to tragedy.

Let's hope it never occurs hereabouts ;)

My question is if Corbyn becomes PM how will he mend fences with Trump after his criticism? Trump is a man who has a long memory.

I think there may be weightier problems to consider first in such a scenario.

However, they say in every disaster there is opportunity and i would not think it would be any different were brother Corbyn to become PM.

I would buy up a failing manufacturing company of which there would likely be many and switch to full scale, mass production of begging bowls.

They would become as ubiquitous as mobile phones and arguably much more necessary/useful.

And those for those advocating a Labour victory and Jeremy as Captain on the Bridge remember this: Jeremy does not agree with a shoot to kill response to terrorists on our streets.

Remember also that Jeremy openly described the death of Osama Bin Laden as a tragedy.

I don't think for one minute that Jeremy considers the death of these perpetrators a tragedy but the man is so conflicted that I am not confident that he will be able to reconcile his long held pacifism and dislike of the security services with the real world response needed to protect the nation.
I've taken this from another forum on someone else's view after last night's terrorist attack and personally I couldn't agree more with this statement.
