If you have an hour or so to spare, this video of the recent US senate hearing gives an excellent summary of the US perception of Egypt.

Serious questions are raised about how well the $70 billion of aid supplied over the years has been spent and whether, especially in the light of the continuous anti-American rhetoric coming from Cairo, the US should reconsider its relationship with the current administration.
