Easter ?

Post by Who2 »

Our village Omda's son Saied interupted my listing to Elton John's Desert Island Discs just now.
On the balcony "Jesus what now ?
Walking down stopping the show anyhow,
He gave me some fresh baked fatteir ? 'cheers I said looking bemused.

Later made me think 'funny duh! must be some easter thing, any clues as to bread, friday, jesus ?

Anyhow back to DID and Alan Price, I have a brilliant story about him.... 8)

Well I hope Annie is nice and snug, you being cold it serves you right. Warm your cinnamon hot cross buns up, how you can enjoy eating them I don't know when there are your fellow Brits here dying of hunger, salivating at the thought of buns and Easter eggs.

Urg! Thanks for giving me my first gag of the day, :sk the first item on that menu board ….. SEED CAKE Yuk! Fancy ruining a good cake by bunging grass seeds, er I mean Caraway seeds in it. My Granny used to make it and I loathed it, I can still remember trying to choke it down, even now just the smell of it brings back horrible memories. There are very few foods I dislike, but top of my list would be seed cake, closely followed by Tuna. :sk

Must say I enjoy my tinned tuna bake. Tin of tuna drained off. mash spuds with cheddar cheese, one egg, dash of full cream milk, knob of butter. Re-mash, placed under the grill until golden brown, flip it over to the other side, sliced tomatoes on top, grill until brown. then lashings of tomato sauce on top with at least four rounds of buttered bread. :eat This is, of course, the healthy option to a full English.

One of my happiest childhood memories is of waking to the smell of freshly baked hot cross buns on Good Friday. My father, always an early riser, would have made a large batch for our breakfast and to distribute to some elderly neighbours.
I still like hot cross buns but don't think I've ever had any that come up to dad's standard.

These days, hot cross buns seem to be available all year round and I will sometimes indulge in one at teatime with a slice of cheese melted into the middle of it.

I missed out on my Good Friday Hot Cross Bun this year as I was travelling back in time from Japan to the UK. I've been too tired to bother going to the shops since my return but thinking I may have to do a raid on Sainsburys tomorrow and cure the craving.

They're not the same, Hepzi. I've been testing quite a few this last week and I haven't managed to find one that matches up to my memories of a hot cross bun! As soon as I get the chance, I will be making some - although I won't bother with the cross!

Love seed cake? Whats the average sperm count for the mix? I don't want to be seen milking this, but I'm interested in unusual cake mixes. Can you use a hand blender?

You don't say what you do with the tin of tuna apart from draining it off. Feeding it to the cats would be a good use for it. :eat :dv :a9: :eat
