The Slitherum Ditherum
I read, I slept, I read some more
I heard a movement by the door
There I saw a hideous sight
Slithering before me
I beheld in the night
A creature of no name
With beady eyes and forked tongue
And grey green spikey scales
Then, as the creature crept more near
I gazed upon its tale.
My eyes grew wide, I stepped aside
I saw the hinged hooked tail
Of a five ringed scorpion’s stinger.
The creature, as from a dark abyss
Searched in the shadowed places
It followed a route quite devious
As though it followed orders.
What manifestation was this thing
That suddenly appeared?
Should I be worried over much?
Was it really to be feared?
I looked again
And what I saw
Was not a monster any more.
It slithered and slimed and shook its tail
But I knew this thing would not prevail
It had no force to make me frightened
Though my senses had been heightened.
The moral of this little story
Is beware of jackanory.

Nice one Hepzi, with the recent turn of events it would be nice to see the Literary Corner getting back on form again, back in those halcion days of yore which no one really remembers, we used to get some good poems and stories on here. Someone recently mentioned Charlie (Mrs Doubtfire) now he could come up with a really good story at times, but that was when people were prepared to contribute rather than just complain that things are not the same anymore.

Re: The Slitherum Ditherum
In the past, over decades, there was nothing more enjoyable for me, poetry, short tales to tell. But alas, I just have not had the time or thought process to create. Apart from that I do not think that Zooropa has still not forgiven me for the UFO's and haunted hotel of Karnak 'FBI' leaked document report that he fell for hook line and sinker.

Re: The Slitherum Ditherum
I'm back in writing mode and have a number of pieces on the go at the moment, mostly things I started and have returned to.
Poetry I have always battled with and, as you can see, I have no particular style. I just have to write down what comes to mind hence I often call them my coffee break jottings.
My writing attemps may not be that good but they help keep the brain ticking over.

I'm suddenly feeling the urge.
