Raheel Raza (born 1949-50 in Pakistan) is a Muslim Canadian journalist, author, public speaker, media consultant, anti-racism activist, and interfaith discussion leader. She lives in Toronto, Canada. She has been compared to Asra Nomani and Amina Wadud for her controversial views on Islam.
She is the author of Their Jihad, Not My Jihad: A Muslim Canadian Woman Speaks Out. She opposes Islamic terrorism and the oppression of Muslim women. As a result, she has received death threats.
Raheel's view is that muslims need to approach islam in a way consistent with the 21st century.
Islam is now 13 centuries old. After the same time span, Christianity had feached the stage of the Medici popes and the Inquisition.... so maybe another 500 years will see some change in the way muslims approach their faith?
