Happy Birthday your majesty!

Post by newcastle »

Elizabeth II, queen of UK (and one or two other places) is 90 years old today.

Quite a remarkable achievement.....although still not quite the longest reigning monarch alive today. That 'honour' belongs to King Bhumibol of Thailand.

Not, by a long way, the longest reigning monarch in history according to verifiable records (Sobhuza of Swaziland - 82 years)

If one admits unverifiable evidence, the record would go to Neferkare, Pepi II of Egypt (94? years).

Oddly ......Queen Elizabeth , much traveled though she is, has never been to Egypt.

Nor has she been to Greece....but then they kicked her husband's family out some years ago, so perhaps that's understandable.

But enough of trivia...... :hb2: :cake2: :a42: :wi :rs

Yes Happy Birthday. To be honest I did not think her birthday was until June.

That would be her "Official Birthday" when the monarch's birthday is celebrated across the commonwealth, and in fact, varies from country to country and is not a fixed date. In UK it's currently the first, second or third Saturday in June.

I think it's 11th June this year. marked by the Trooping of the Colour ceremony.

If you're in Australia this year it's the second Monday in June....the 13th. But in Western Australia it's October 3rd.
