Sir Terry Wogan has died

Post by Bombay »

Veteran BBC broadcaster Sir Terry Wogan has died aged 77, after a short illness, his family has confirmed.
In a statement, they said: "Sir Terry Wogan died today after a short but brave battle with cancer.
"He passed away surrounded by his family. While we understand he will be missed by many, the family ask that their privacy is respected at this time."
BBC director general Tony Hall said: "Terry truly was a national treasure."

I am very sorry to hear of the passing of STW his presentation of the Eurovision Song Contest was the only thing that made it watchable. Cheered me up in a morning with his radio 2 show. Thank you. R.I.P.
However he was not my "best friend" I did not "adore" him. The eulogies on the BBC are just going a little too far.

Very sad news. Although not a "best friend" I did used to feel that I was listening to a group of old friends when listening to his daily morning show, with his producer "Poorly" Walters, and Boggy 2 Sheds. And I often laughed till I cried listening to the Janet and John stories (I had to stop the car and pull over once because I was laughing too much). He did definitely make my morning drive to work thoroughly enjoyable no matter what the traffic was like.

At the risk of appearing frivolous, he died every year when Eurovision came round.

Not a fan.

"Children in Need" was just as cringe-worthy when TW was involved.

As for Blankety-Blank, I leave you to fill in the blanks.

Had to turn off Today R4 as they keep repeating the inane voice of Wogan never could stand the man...

Ive just been wiping the tears from my eyes again this morning - tears of laughter that is, as Chris Evans has just played another Janet and John story on his tribute show to Terry. (You have to be a certain age to appreciate these stories ie old enough to have learned to read with Janet and John books at infant school)

Trouble is he always patronised his listeners as if they were a class of 4 year olds, which probably was the level of their collective intelligence...

You're welcome to insult my intelligence Dr Dear, (I have serious worries about it myself) but surely just enjoying Terry's Breakfast Programme isnt a good enough reason?

Similar to The Archers, the only time I ever had to endure them was when a cellmate was a fan...
Ps: My cellmate was far bigger than me from Notting Hill name of Reggie Guts..'so we listened, at least he didn't like Wogan.
Pss: his name was due to him surviving two axe attacks to his body..

Your wish has been granted Dr. Frank Finlay has popped his clogs. Now he did have a voice you could live with as well as being a brilliant actor.
