Kate Bush
Some light relief for a Sunday.
Question for our music maestro BM..and anyone else who remembers her!
How did/do you rate her?Her comeback concert after 35years has received mixed reviews, although the majority of them are positive and glowing.
Personally,I never quite "got"her.I'll admit that I found "Wuthering Heights"quite haunting and somewhat unique, but after that I really didn't like any of her other stuff.
Banshee music!!!
Made my ears bleed!
From the reviews her show seems to have been a combination of arty farty "musical theatre",dance and "stunning"vocals.
Just not my cup of tea!Would probably have sat there and thought "what the **** is this all about."
Give me Status Quo any day!Toe tapping, head banging music..and a rocking audience!
That's entertainment!

Re: Kate Bush
I was watching Top of the Pops one evening when Wuthering Heights was first aired.
This demure looking girl at the piano, tinkling the higher notes as she prepared to sing..
I nearly spilt my tea as Kate let out her high pitched vocals.. My mum and I looked at each other with a "WTF am I watching" expression on our faces.. .
I loved the song by the time it had got to the end, and I liked her music. She has a unique creative talent, and she still has it. Many have copied her and failed..
My wife has many of her albums, and I bought her the Aerial Album released on November 7th 2005, which was very good.. A Sky of Honey is a classic..
Back in the day, She was exploited sexually by her record company to promote sales, and she was not trying to put out that message,
so I understand her leaving the business, and now she is a Mum and Wife.
Many people are making comebacks, so why not Kate ? She still has it, and I think it took a lot of courage for her to do that.
Status Quo never left the scene, but there are more chords than just C and E, and Francis Rossi is infact a very talented guitar player, so clearly Quo just sold out.
I enjoyed the music of Quo in the early days, but after 3 records, they all sounded the same, and my back is in no shape these days to do the "Angel Rock" any more..
Rock is my thing, it is a harmless outlet for the male aggression when played at full blast, and has been my life long companion and teacher .... \m/

Re: Kate Bush
I liked her back then.
I fully understand that she might not wish to sing some of her early numbers. Voices change, and she might not be happy with the high notes that she once could hit.
I sang in church choirs for several years, but would not dream of attempting to sing the numbers that once I soloed in. Not just the ones when I was a soprano/treble or alto but even some as a second bass. I don't have the range any more.

Re: Kate Bush
Not a big fan myself she was an EMI Artist so ABC Cinemas had to play here albums what seemed forever back then. A friend of mine is a fan and has been about 3 times to see the new concerts.

I used to be into some of her earlier stuff, can't really be bothered these days....
Whatever else you say about Kate and her ilk, she was a unique voice, like Chrissie Hynde, whom I could recognise on the radio recently despite never having heard the song before. There are so few distinctive voices in pop these days.

This was the first female that I would have gladly died for. Instantaneous love at first note. Now she's a little like myself, from a size eight to a twenty and vocals that are best whispered.

Nothing that involves the IQ higher than that of a lobotomised Chimp, thats for sure.. He's probably figuring out how to peel a Banana on his own, or some similar mind blowing task...
I bet he misses them Whitehouse day's, when he thought he was commander in chief..
Wonder if they let him keep the leather flying jacket ? . . . Somehow I doubt that..
