I have a program on one of my laptops that I would like to copy to my other laptop, does anyone know the step by step procedure please? (In layman terms) Can I down load to a stick and then upload?

Tell me the operating system of your old Laptop, and the operating system on your new laptop, and I will let you know how to migrate all your settings and information.
with this information, I will be able to give you the less convoluted answer ...

You need the installer to be able to install the program on another computer. The installer is normally a single file, often with an exe extension, that extracts and puts all the files you need to run the program in their proper places. Where did you get the program from in the first place? If you don't mind telling us what the program is, we might be able to better help you.
