I have lived in Luxor for three years and earlier this year was appointed a Luxor warden. My area of responsibility is the West Bank.

Just to let you know the role of the Luxor wardens is to assist the British Consul to help British Nationals in a crisis.

What is a crisis?
* When a large scale security problem (eg a revolution) or natural disaster has occurred and caused substantial damage and/or casualties
* When an evacuation issue has been ordered.

For any other consular matters need to be referred to the embassy. Tel: +20 2 2791 6000 – staffed 24 hours email: They also have an email which is detailed on the fb page.

Following on from the meeting on 11 June the Embassy are interested in being told of any crimes against a UK national (ex-pats and tourists) including verbal abuse, muggings and household invasion and theft.

The Wardens have a page on Facebook called the Luxor Wardens Information page where we post regular updates reveived from the Embassy. If you are a UK ex-pat living in Luxor for more than six months of the year please make a request to join the page.
There is a list on the files section of this page of who the wardens are, their areas of responsibility and contact details.

We would also encourage anyone who is interested to join the UK in egypt page of facebook and there is also a facility to add your friends if you think they would be interested.
