Massive crocodile found in Egypt's Aswan

Post by DJKeefy »

Crocodile discovered in pond near Aswan Low Dam in Upper Egypt will be rescued in May, Nature Reserves Directorate (NRD) leader says.

A three-metre-long crocodile weighing 200kg has been found in a pond in the Upper Egyptian city of Aswan, Nature Reserves Directorate (NRD) leader Mahmoud Haseeb has said.

The massive crocodile, which was found near the city's Low Dam, will be rescued in May.

The pond is shallow and has only a narrow passage which poses a challenge for rescuers, Haseeb said.

"May will see a rise in water levels which will make it easier to catch the crocodile," Haseeb added.

The fugitive animal poses no risk to local residents, he said.

Nice try Keefy. When Australian saltwater mature male crocs can exceed 6 metres (20 ft) and weigh more than 1,000 kilograms (2,200 lb), this tiddler would hardly be classed as "massive"; this is the size of a juvenile here. And, Low Dam? :P

Low Dam? :P
There are two dams on the Nile in Egypt; the low dam is the one the British built. and the high dam at Aswan is the one that the Russians built in the sixties. :) :)

That's what I assumed, but I have never heard it called that.

I saw her a couple of years ago as I was riding my motorbike. She was crossing the main road from the canal and heading towards the fileds.

I brought my motorbike to an almost instant stop, coudl not decide wether to turn around and scarper back to the safety of the east bank, or take a photo.
By the time I got my camera, she had gone... It's always the way... :urm:

I must admit, reading this topic last night, I noticed the last poster on the topic was "Once Bitten"... :cg
