Police seize Pharaonic artifacts in Minya

Post by DJKeefy »

The tourism police uncovered a number of rare artifacts on Friday that were illegally put up for sale in Minya.

Major General Abdel Rahim Hassan, director of the General Administration of Tourism and Antiquities Police, had received information that two Minya residents were hiding artifacts in their homes with the intent to sell them on the black market.

The police obtained a permit to inspect the houses of the suspects, and discovered a number of Pharaonic artifacts, including a miniature wooden vessel, a porcelain statue, a black basalt statue, and a 170 cm long coffin with Pharaonic inscriptions and drawings, inside which was a mummy wrapped in linen.

The public prosecutor will begin investigations shortly.
