Egyptian Dawn Robert Temple

Just picked up the paperback @ 7.99 hardback was about £28 quid.
On the outset in looks like another well researched book by him 514 pages.
I like the end of the authors note. 'Long may the struggle against ignorance, stupidity, vanity and egotism continue............nice.........8)
www.egyptiandawn.info
'might even drop my current 'search for the Cambyses Army, in favour of the above.

I enjoyed the first half or so, but this book got a bit tedious towards the end. I read it about 9 months ago, so don't remember the exact content, but the bits dealing wiyj the valley temples at Giza were fascinating.

It may seem strange, but I promise you its true, Temple some years ago now, persuaded the then head of the SCA, one, Gaballa Ali Gaballa, if he could have written permission to snoop around the Giza pyramids area, Ali was always a good kind old soul, even when he was down in luxor, and he gave Temple the, then green flimsy one needed, when on site not as a tourist.

Temple arrived armed with items, that shall we say, clearly marked him out as not being a tourist. Unfortunatly, he had not done the polite thing and introduce himself to the site Chief Inspector. An ordinary inspector accompanied by a police office, escorted Mr Temple to the chief inspector's office. On entering the office Temple, with out saying a word, placed the permission notice under the nose of the chief inspector, who instantly picked it up and throw it in Temple's face and told him to get out........I shall give you one clue who that chief inspector was....... ZH.

Hm,....... seems Mr Temple, if nothing else, has learnt some lessons in manners since then.
