Does anyone fish in the Nile?

Since a camping trip in the summer me and the kids have had the fishing bug and are eager to go again!
We are coming to Luxor for 14 nights in December and fancy having a go in the Nile. Does anyone else fish in the Nile? If so what do you use as bait? Is it better to fish the bottom or use a float? and where would you suggest the best spots are? Also what sort of fish do you catch? We brought some extremely tasty catfish type things from one of the little fishing boats once.
Please excuse my ignorance but we are almost total beginners and also note we will be using the most basic equipment!

I went fishing more than 10 years ago with my BIL and we used just normal earth worms for a bait. I remember we got lots of small catfishes. Never know if someone actually ate any fish we managed to catch but it was fun

We were fishing with a float.
