I brought some asparagus rootstock from the UK to Luxor 15 months ago, and it is still doing well, growing in a container on our shaded roof. This time in Luxor has included periods when I was absent and left our cleaner in charge of plant watering, so the plant has done well to survive all this time.

I am hoping that I will be able to soon divide the root and, in a couple of years, at least have a small crop for our personal consumption!

Congratulations Pasha! Looks like you've discovered a new roof/balcony plant for Luxor! The foliage is very decorative too. Could you give us some info on the gardening thread in Hobbies? I'm really interested in the details. :)

Would kill for some here!

Best to all,

it really is the best. I usually steam instead of boil. You can bake ears also with a little drizzle of olive oil. For grilling, soak the ears in ice water, pull back the husk, butter and season, pull the husk back around the ear and put it on the grill. Steams it beautifully.

Have you ever had a cajun boil Scott? I'm sure you did calm bakes up in Vermont. Would love to do that.
Thanks PRChick, I will make a small order, just to see how it goes. :)
Have you tried microwaving them in their husks? It's 20 years since I did it so not sure of timings now. :(

I have not but I know people who do and they say it is tasty. I did do two ears tonight in the microwave but in the new microwave cooking bags. They came out wonderfully. I just did a little spray butter on them and yum. I really recommend those bags for cooking veggies. They cook to perfection in just a few minutes while maintaining all their flavor.
