Gangs in London..

Post by Who2 »

Here's not a bad article by Andrew Marr about London Gangs.
He leaves out the Apprentice Gangs from the City and states that he lives in North London,
Yeh! right, Primrose Hill not known for much violence.
But still relatively interesting, if not that well researched..... 8)

I think things are getting bad in Old Smokie regarding knives, its a good job guns are not as easy to get. This morning I was listening to a program and heard that the Police have been dropped by over 30% in London and the Police Budget has been almost halved, so what do people expect. (If I think correct it was on Good Morning Britain)

Where I live in Clerkenwell, it's an ex Police fortified block of apartments.
It used to be a no-go for Police after they gave it up in the 80's.
Then it became 'refined, nice people who care about their environment.
We have our own posse/gang they used to be a right annoying little bunch of b*stards but do tend to keep out
the wrong sort of drug dealers and low lifes.
We have a St Mungo's home not to far away they give us a bit of trouble but not to much,
a pint glass thrown from 5 floors up generally sees them off.
If one uses one's given senses it's easy to steer clear of trouble,
except, if one has one's face stuck in one's 'stupid phone..... 8)
Ps: I see our little environment gets 2 mentions in his article.
Pss: Our claim to fame is still kept alive with The A Team and the Arifs.

Interesting article.

Nothing much has changed except Dickens would nowadays be pilloried for antisemitism - what with Shylock, Fagin and sundry others. Jeremy's got nothing to worry about in comparison.

Oh.....and you're more likely to spot a gang member in the Whitechapel mosque on a Friday lunchtime rather than the Blind Beggar on a Friday night.

My last London abode was just off Vallance Road, Bethnal Green - epicentre of the Kray's territory and home to their mother. They were/are still regarded with approval amongst many old timers - the sheer brutality of their reign warped into a latter day Robin Hood fantasy.

I was one of the many gawpers at Reggie's funeral held in the church, onto the yard of which my house abutted. You couldn't move for gangster types with their dolled-up molls - and cops taking notes. It took a lot of pushing and shoving before I could make my way to Bethnal Green Road and a taxi.
