Hi Everyone,
I recently became interested in Egypt about 1 year when I took part in the National Genographic Project. This project traces the movement of humans from Africa using DNA techniques. The bottom line is; my male ancestry is ancient Egyptian. My professional background is in DNA analysis, so I have been able to confirm this information. In particular, my male ancestry is from Upper Egypt, possibly from the Luxor region.
The migration path appears to be from Upper Egypt into Northern Italy ~ 200 to 400 AD , then into Ireland around 1200 AD. My great grandfather migrated to Australia from Ireland in 1864.
Anyhow, I will be in the middle east in early March 2011 for work, and I am planning on visiting Egypt in mid March for about 1 week, and will probably spend about 3 days in Luxor.
It will be a chance to explore the ancestral roots

Welcome Peter, that sounds really interesting. Aromagician will be fascinated she loves all the DNA tracing etc., I do hope she pops by and see's your post. Perhaps you could do a new post somewhere explaining how you managed to get to the bottom of the DNA trail etc.,

Oh. Well, as a Sydneysider I won't hold that against you, you're still welcome!
I'm with Sue, would be fascinating to learn all about it.
