NOPE, Windows Vista..
God only knows what they did with that version of NTFS, which is supposed to improve with each generation, but the GUI selection method is one slow process, never mind bulk deletion as well....

Although Micro$oft did fix Vista, and rebrand it as Windows 7 so everyone had to repurchase the same operating system.

At least Apple are putting out their OS refreshes either cheap (Mountain Lion was £13.99) or free (Mavericks) these days. Hopefully Yosemite will also be free this Autumn.

Probably about the same amount that Bill Gates gave to IBM for use of the DOS shell.

Have to say though, never had a virus under Windows '98. Then along came XP...Brian Yare wrote:... or the doss hell?Alistair1967 wrote:Probably about the same amount that Bill Gates gave to IBM for use of the DOS shell.

Dos Shell, well being a linux user, I do more typing than most in the console, and I like shell scripts in Windows Server.
problem is, once you start, there is no CANCEL button.
No, No, No Alistair, you forgot the Klez worm virus that infected every Windows Millennium PC back in 1998.
Millenium was the first Windows Vista, ie both should never have been released as a LTS Product, when they never even finished its beta testing, and was released early so certain people in Micro$oft could get their bonus.. Kerching !!!
We don't even think about viruses with Linux...

Yes my mate gave me a copy of Windows ME - absolutely awful, wished I could roll it back to '98. As I said '98 was virus free although prone to BSOD now and then. Probably due to memory leaks caused by sloppy coding.
