Ladieees aaaand Gentlemen, may I have your ATTENTION!!?!

Post by BENNU »

I just found this on Facebook, and rush to translate for those of you who don't understand Norwegian!!!!!! (I'm really exhausted..)

It is a VERY positive review of our own MIRIAM KHALIFA's debut novel!!!

http://www.norli.no/SamboWeb/produkt.do ... Id=5926404

Recommendation from Norli

We travel more and more. The world is becoming a melting pot of cultures and nationalities. It is exciting and challenging. Think what we give each other, if we want and dare. But it is difficult. There are basic differences in mindsets, traditions, ways of living and morality.

This book made a big impression on me. Nude in hijab is well written, beautiful, painful and important! You have got to read this book! Live goes with one of her girlfriends on a long anticipated holiday to exotic Egypt. She becomes overwhelmed with the country, the smells, flavours and the casual lifestyle. She meets Kareem and gets charmed by his kindness and magnetism. He loves his family, they are important og must be taken care of, and Live thinks of Norway, where children are in kindergarten and the elderly in institutions. In Egypt families stay together all their lifes. They have responsibilities and care for each other. Live is both amazed and scared. She knows that it will be a challenge, but decides to believe in love and moves to Luxor, a big and popular tourist town. She moves in with Kareem’s family and signs a marriage contract in Arabic. Live chooses to trust Kareem.

She should never have done that. As things get normal, he changes. He demands and expects that she obeys. Live has to wear a hijab and submit to rules and ways of living. She is desperate, at the same time she gets along with his family. They are kind people and receive Live with open arms. She is both fascinated and frightened. And this is exactly what I find so great about the book. Live appreciates the qualities and loves the colours and scents in Egypt. At the same time the basic values are miles away from hers. This is trustworthy and creates a balance in the story.

Live gets pregnant and gives birth to a pretty little daughter. She realises that the situation will now change dramatically. The child belongs to the family, and if Live as much as shows a desire to travel home to Norway, Kareem gets furious. This is a book that will make you wiser, and I personally find that it should be syllabus in higher education here in Norway.

Dear dear Mimimay, I DO feel proud, am very happy that I did not know before I started out, just how much work it would be..!

Mimimay it is not too late to start making your book! I plan to write until they close the lid over me ;)
