I never knew that, see what you learn when you can read....

"The Salvation of Mankind lies in making everything the responsibility of All"
Sophocles.

Re: New Taxi Company
I'm pretty sure this is the hotel. El Baeirat village, WB.

Well done WI at uploading photos into postsWinged Isis wrote: ↑Sun Oct 13, 2019 12:38 pm I'm pretty sure this is the hotel. El Baeirat village, WB.

Once you have uploaded photos, you then can click on the "Place Inline" button on each photo to place the photos between your paragraphs (if you have any paragraphs) otherwise the photos will show in one large block saying "Attachments" (like in your post)
Example of place inline

Re: New Taxi Company
Is El Baeirat village that place just south of Luxor on the West Bank? I remember going there for lunch a couple of times in the past. They had a few letting rooms but not a hotel, is that something recent?
Do these pictures look like the approach from the river?
These were in 2010/11

Re: New Taxi Company
The village is north of the bridge, opposite the Sheraton. Tourists are brought by boat for refreshments to Aladin's Restaurant, to view it's poor caged crocodile, the banana plantation, ride a camel.
There is another hotel, the El Baeirat Hotel, also built in Hassan Fathy style. But that is at the end of the village, to the left from the water, of the one in question, and only 8 rooms on one level. It's owned by a German and her husband.
The big one was started before, then was stopped by, both revolutions. Some minor work started in 2016.

Re: New Taxi Company
@ newcastle: Then they have changed the photos since I last looked. But not all, as some say Soon, others are still of somewhere else, eg the pool. The website is still a work in progress.
It was always intended as a small, quality, boutique hotel, which it seems to be on appearances, though the décor has changed (the hand-painted patterns on walls and ceilings are gone). The choice of Djorff as the name would be to avoid stealing that of the other hotel I mentioned, as the villagers consider the location as El Baeirat, not Djorff, which is the next place a short walk north.

Re: New Taxi Company
As far as I can see, the latest edition only includes gallery photos of the actual hotel. All the photos of “imagined” rooms have been removed.Winged Isis wrote: ↑Sun Oct 13, 2019 9:30 pm @ newcastle: Then they have changed the photos since I last looked. As you say, it’s a work in progress.
