:up The diva sang that and many other beautiful classics, sharing memories from her days of Motown, growing up with the stars of soul and jazz, loving and losing. It was all about love and soul, enjoying the moment, telling others how you feel and take nothing for granted. There was a strong tribute to dear friends of hers who are no longer around: Aretha Franklin, James Ingram and Prince.

Copenhagen Jazz Festival is huge! I have experienced many of the greatest musicians here, often more than once. Stars who are used to performing at far larger venues than our little city can offer, here the proximity makes the difference and I am usually fast enough to get the best seats. Last night I was back on second row, the tickets went fast and they have organised another show tonight, but mostly I can be seen stretching my long legs on the front row.

It is not easy to choose where to go with jazz all over the city, I never get to see all that I have planned, but I have enjoyed fifteen wonderful concerts in eight days, some sublime and unforgettable. I am getting ready for three outdoor concerts in my end of town tonight, 23C and cold beer.

I know that there is very limited interest in jazz on this forum, so this year I have tried to keep it to myself, but Gladys Knight attracted a different audience, and I imagine some of you would have loved to be there, the atmosphere was fantastic.

8) After such a great week, I still have at least one concert left tomorrow! :br I will be sitting on the front row in the middle right before my biggest hero, :lv :lv :lv just like I did six years ago in Royal Theatre, and I don't even know what to wear. 8)

Where were we ..? Yes, the lovely Gladys Knight refused to do "Social Medium or whatever they call it".

I am one of those who you refer to Bennu with little interest in Jazz but do post about your experiences at the festival. Whilst I may not know of some of the bands/singers you go to see your writing is lovely and I enjoy reading your posts. Gladys Knight I have heard of though "Heard it through the grapevine" and more appropriately for here I suppose " I wish it would rain". Love love love her.

Bennu, I just want to be your shadow. I am sure I would learn so much and broarden my musical appreciation. My taste in music is wide, but restricted in many ways...by me...because I have not always had the opportunityies (many factors) to widen it further.
My own circumstances do not stop my enjoyment of reading your, or other's, posts describing joy in the wonderful world of music experiences. Please Bennu, keep your posts coming.

Thank you, Hepzibah, but be careful, or I may write about the Cairo scene, Egyptian rhythms, maquamat, instruments, traditions :sd ... don't get me started on Baligh Hamdy.

I skipped a concert because it looked like rain, but now the birds are singing and I am going to hear some Kletzmer/Balkan/Oriental fusion because my friends are going.

Since Gladys Knight doesn't do Social Medium ;) , phones were banned and I only managed to get a few, not very good snapshots.

Here she is singing "I heard it through the grapevine", just for you!

Go for it girl. Get that thread going. The rhythm of life is a powerful beat - and we all need, at least the chance, to be exposed to more of those rhythms and rhymes.

 I give up!

I keep trying, but after a few raspberry/rhubarb gin slings with mint, it all comes out in Egyptian English.

Sorry I have been away from internet, but the cut cvered from Esba to La Galta. Its them villages that told me of the long cut. Any where else on the WB I do not know because I have no people there I keep in contact with. I presumed because of the messages it was widespread.

 I can hear it now. A powercut takes place, and a great cry goes up from the West Bank villagers affected. 'Alas, woe is me. A curse is upon me and my family. A jinn has been angered and has now caused a great power outage. Is it not enough that it is the height of summer and the thermometer is rising with the heat? Have we not suffered enough with rank meat from the supermarket? How long will we have to wait befkre we can use our internet again? We must contact Major Thom at the earliest possible and tell him of all our daily woes of life here on the West Bank of Luxor.'

Stop digging a deeper hole MT I have friends who live in Esba and La Ghalta I they deny having 9 hour power cuts.
I don't suppose it matters really it's just your constant gloating over any, as you perceive it, bad news coming out of Luxor. Most of what you report proves to be false. Why you do it I fail to understand, you don't live here you don't care about the place. Enjoy your life in Cyprus stop dwelling on the past.

You have told us that you lived without electricity for seven hours every day in that area, so it is hardly sensation.
