How hot is the West Bank?

Post by Major Thom »

I bet a lot of people are swealtering after the 8am to 5pm power outage on the West Bank yesterday. What was the problem to warrent a 9 hour power cut, there must have been one hell of a problem, or the Country is running out of electric again. Ha Ha! Nothing has been posted in the medias around the City.

I don't know your source of information MT but if I were you I would become very suspicious of it.

MT where I live it was a 2 hour outage, and unless one has catered for these outages then one only has
one's self to blame. It's a hot Country get used to it, or try Margate.... 8)

Ps: Hurriyet Daily News reports on 'mentality problems in Cyprus, but 'mentally the page will not open.
I suppose, one could blame Turkey or one could blame Greece, the choice is yours...

Power cut! What power cut? Utter rubbish. I had no power cuts at all yesterday. Tell the person or persons who are making the bullets for you to fire to get their facts right. Or better still, STOP this never-ending vilification of Luxor. It is now SO boring ......

Major Thom often entertained us with how himself and wife lived year after year without water and electricity for many, many hours every single day in what used to be a beautiful piece of nature with no need of infrastructure, until it was suddenly invaded.

He seemed to enjoy projecting this disgraceful situation on to everyone else on the same side of the river, where people live more comfortable and dignified lives than what he described. It provoked me, because I would have been ashamed, if I had chosen an everyday life without aircon and frequent showers in the heat.

For health reasons, I really love the extreme heat, but there is no way that I will miss Copenhagen Jazz Festival, so I left Egypt last week. This summer, I have noticed less than five power cuts, lasting one to ten minutes, I can live with that.

There may have been a power cut on the West Bank of The Nile yesterday, probably the usual place! I do not see why the local power cuts should stop, just because there are no active forum members left there to complain about it.

It would appear that Cyprus is on a summer break or shutdown and has left Major Thom bored and fretful.

I'm left wondering if his post title question was a request for an accurate thermometer reading for a specific time.

The man has turned into a Troll. One way to deal with that in my opinion and it should be obvious.

Oh come on you guys, what would life be without MT’s Schadenfreude types posts and surely to ban him would be to give his gloating missives far more importance than it deserves and no doubt a sense of satisfaction.

I rather assumed BBLUX meant “ignore him”.

Bans are for those who can’t keep a civil tongue in their head. Posting crap is not really in that league. Occasionally it’s quite funny.....or at least gives one reason to believe that there’s always someone thicker than you.

I agree looks like Hercule's art deco pad.
As for MT I can't make up my mind whether he really is taking the p, after all he is a self confessed wind up merchant. Don't think he should be banned, ignored maybe. I just think his life must be so restricted and sad, why else is he so obsessed with what is happening in a place he found so objectionable. With people he didn't understand. who showed the generosity of spirit to accept him in their homeland. He has never accepted the fact that some people are happy living here, that they like the way of life, with or without the power cuts.
I only know if I hated it here as much as he professed I would be out of here, off to pastures new. And I would never look back I wouldn't give a damn what you lot where doing here.
