Egypt report on Facebook or is it Fake News

Post by Major Thom » Sat Nov 18, 2017 2:54 am

They have just implemented a new law in Egypt that could be a model for Cyprus
There will be no cars in Sharm soon
If you are a driver in Sharm please read
The new Traffic Law came into effect on the 15 th November .
The vehicle will be impounded for a maximum period of 2 months. And minimum of 2 weeks.
For the following offences.
Not wearing a Safety Belt at the front seats .
Using a Mobile phone while driving
Not wearing the helmet if driving a motor cycle.
Obstructing traffic.
Delaying traffic .
Parking over the pavement .
Driving over the pavement.
Parking in a no parking zone.
Waiting in no waiting zone .
Double parking.
Driving recklessly .
If you drive a vehicle without licences , the Car licence or the driving licence, the car will be impounded for 2 months .
If you are visiting a city and you are caught with out licences , the car will be impounded for 2 months and the driver is sent back from where he came.
PS. Use of mobile phones .
You can not use your phone waiting for traffic lights.
You can not use your mobile phone during a traffic jam.
But if you park safely and switch off your engine , the use of your mobile phone is permitted .

Just seen this posted on Facebook, another pipe dream and again who will police it. No chance of being obeyed elsewhere in Egypt. By putting this to press once again just proves to be folly. Sorry folk, but who else thinks this will be upheld?

I know :a86: :a86: :a86: :a86: I will do it for you, but once again past experience and keeping your eyes open tells you its folly. Not a Clue. When a certain groups motorbikes do on average 30KM per day it just shows they cannot be bothered.

2 days ago over 100 drivers were breathalyzed in Coral Bay in the space of 2 hours between 9pm and 11pm now that's Policing for you.

All that tells you is that Cyprus has a problem with drunken drivers ;)

Funnily enough, that's what has always made holidays in Egypt more appealing than Cyprus - very few (if any) drunks!

Funnily enough the roads - at least in Hurghada, Probably all over Egypt - are still full of inconsiderate drivers, sans seat belt, Mobile phones in hand.

I think they introduce these laws to give the khawagas something to witter about on social media. Maybe even to stop the odd one and extract a month's wages.

They know their fellow Egyptian and the impossibility of changing the habits of a lifetime by means of education or legislation.

Better leave that to a few deluded souls who think setting up a motor cycle club will transform society into caring, safe, road users ;)

:))) :)))

These so called new laws were implemented over twelve months ago in Luxor, none of which seem to have been implemented, according to my taxi driver, but then again, what does he know.

Ermm ... But you never use Facebook or 'Social Media' - or so you've told us often enough!

Is this another case of rumour or Fake News!
