Xmas Trees

Post by Who2 » Thu Nov 17, 2016 5:21 am

Now my old tree is being once again dug out for Christmas, it's been in service for 10 years.
Time for a new one, methinks.

Does anyone know where to buy new ones in Luxor ? I forgot where my old one was purchased.
Here is a pretty weird selection available in London, none are cheap, in fact it would be cheaper buying
the real thing.

I also purchase Haze pine aerosol for that woody smell.... 8)

I seem to recall seeing a shop on Television St. a few years back selling them. I also think some are sold at Maris Georges, so you've missed your chance there.

Mind you the Copts are still returning home past me from Marie Girgis, with their trucks piled high with camping gear.. 8)

Station Street more or less opposite the Post Office usually has most stuff upstairs in his store.
Not sure how much will be around as its all imported and not much imported stuff around.

Walk from the DIY shop towards the church, couple of streets further are some Coptic shops in a little alley they sell trees and decorations. There were loads at Mari Gergis but too late now.

Carrie beat me too it. Exactly where our old tree came from.

My other thought on artificial trees is that perhaps one of the hotels or restaurants that has closed may have one to off load. I don't know who you'd contact, but I'm sure you know a man who knows a man, who may know a man who knows a man that is in the know.

Iv'e never been to Mari Gergis, but my mates tell me everything there is dirt cheap.
A couple of 'howadgers I know went one year and there was a load of shooting and usually half the place
burns down due to exploding gas canisters.

I'd be more worried about the toilet situation, with over a million festival goers,
bet it's not as organised as Glasto..
I once had 12 posh-portaloos for over 2000 people, they got blocked within 20 minutes
and stayed blocked for the whole night, 'never again!
Try unblocking that lot whilst temporarily off one's tits organising a party...

For those of you that wish to read the full 'stunning review here it is,
You will have to zoom in to read...

Not a bad gig for over 2000 'liggers, free booze and only £47k for the whole night...8)

Ps: We also had Ian Drury performing in a remote controlled wheel-chair and an Abbot Self Propelled 'pink Tank..outside!
Which we subsequently rented to Gay Pride...'after we had been down the pub on it a few times....
I like the bit about the Rocky Horror bar staff, we had 32 all auditioned from 'body piercing salons...

It won't be before Christmas Dr, we have too much to do, I think it will be more or less the Summer of 2017, but will see you on my return.

Saturday set off over to the dark-side today in hunt of new Xmas decorations and lights.
Loads of Koreans or Chinese on the Nile, in Caleshes, all over the place.

Any how into the Coptic stationary shop in Station Road opposite 'Mitcho's off - licence..
Up the narrow stairs to not too many decorations all last years,
any how bought a new santa and 8 sparkly chains and a box of balloons.
( they tend to blow up in one's face quite regularly ) 50le.

Then we found the one opposite the post office.
It's got the lot, loads of Santa's lights ect.
"How much for the 'alpine dressed santa ? tasteful..
"250le ! "f***that, "So how much for this lot ?
1 x set of fibre optic lights 6 strings of sparkly stuff No Santa.
"280le, I went sparko so did my mate "your haven a f***hazra mack mate!'

As I told him to "harami-off and he was a 'clefty and a 'stupid clefty at that..
He was following us out the shop still lowering his prices with absolute zeal....

Into B&Q big can of WD40 & 10 glue gun sticks lrg. 50le

So I will leave it till next week see if the same geezer is on duty in the Xmas shop and have a bit more fun.
Cheeky ba*tard!
You can't miss the shop it has 2 x 5ft tall Santa's outside,
one even playing a saxophone..the other a 'Jews' harp, I think!...... 8)

Now is the time to start trawling all the hotels to check out their xmas trees. If you find one you like, put in an offer for it and then, subject to some festive haggling, you may be successful and have one for next year.
