Girls..or boys?

Post by Scottishtourist » Sun Apr 24, 2016 4:14 pm

If you ever had to have a baby..what sex would you prefer?
A girl? Or a boy?

I've been totally blessed. My first child was a son..he's now a very handsome, strong young man and has two little daughters of his own.My other two children were girls. They have been a constant support to me throughout the years.

Do you know the old saying?"A son is a son until he takes a wife..a daughter's a daughter for all of her life."

I get quite angry in Luxor when I see reaction to my friend's daughter. She has two sons who are quite honestly cheeky, impertinant little so and so's.

But her daughter is the one who I have witnessed her slapping, pulling her hair, etc. They wanted to get her "cut"a few years ago..but mercifully, common sense prevailed and they didn't go through with this hideous practice.

Now,all they talk about is finding a husband for her.For God's sake..she's 14 years old!

Their sons..well any spare money they have will be spent on educating them! They want them to have a good life, travel and study.

They've told me that "daughters"are expensive! They have to save up money for dowry, etc?
Boys are more "valued."
Is this true?

Is it much less expensive to have sons in Egypt? And are girls valued as much?

That's one family. I know others where it is the opposite. It's a lot easier for a boy to find decent paid work in Luxor without further education, but if the girl wants to be paid what she is worth in a respectable position she has to go to the university and get a degree. And sometimes the girl is smarter than the boys. People do what works for their family. And it's not always the family pushing the girl to get married. But sometimes a fiance comes and presents himself and the girl herself abandons any thoughts she had of going to university as a result. And while yes the girl has to save up some money the boy needs more to get married for sure.

If I chose to have more children, I would prefer to have sex with a woman. I'm a traditionalist I suppose.

I have one of each and love them both as much, I never thought of whether a boy or girl when my wife was pregnant, I was more interested that the baby was safe and healthy and my wife was well. It maybe more emphasis is put on it nowadays. I know more seems to be put on a man having a heir, but really its baloney. The thing which I think may be right is that the father is more protective and closer to a daughter than a son, and maybe visa versa for the son to be closer to the mother. That was the case when I was growing up.

Grooms provide the dowry as well as living accommodation not the Bride's parents.
Smile! It confuses people
