I've still got and regularly play my original LPs of both his albums from when they were first released, and now the CDs for in my car. The documentary was the best one on a musician I've seen. I enjoyed attending his concert in Sydney. He comes every year for a blues festival too. Still going strong.

Possibly. Why would that be so surprising?
I log in on a daily basis.
I have NO vested interest in Luxor. It's habit.

And you live in Cairo..so why do you still log on?

Leave him and his wife alone! They appear to be doing no harm!
And..I fully appreciate why he ain't contributing to THIS forum anymore!

1. Please tell me when you learn why.
2. I'd also like to know who told you.

If you don't mind...

Don't mind at all.

1)How am I supposed to learn anything without asking questions and bowing to superior knowledge? That knowledge seems to be forthcoming..but,alas..it has "nothing to do with me!"Very bad attitude when someone is only giving an opinion that you don't agree with!Just dismiss them as "stupid!"All they're doing is giving comparisons from their past.Seems irrelevant to you and others. The "likes"indicate that!
By God..I may not have a university degree..but I've never had any trainee nurse "shadowing"me and offering such disrespect! How else do they learn? From a bloody book?

2)You talk about Cairo with a certain flair, panache, and knowledge.Much more so than anyone else on the forum. If you don't live there, then I offer my apologies!I thought you did!

The whole topic was about Sunshine orphanage..and I gave my opinions,my thoughts.
Obviously wasn't appreciated by you..and others.

Such a pity they all see fit to make no comment..when Scottishtourist will just say what she thinks!

Daresay, that's the whole problem with questioning things and comparing experiences.Knowledge is "power."
And it's a sad day when someone just tells you that their "knowledge"has nothing to do with you..then skip happily back to a life, totally satisfied with the fact that they have a "superiority complex!"

There are some absolutely great restaurants in Cairo..
If you live in Cairo and many millions do, unless you live up on the mountain like I did up Makkatam. You lower dwellers suffer from mono carbide inhalation.
This is a very common problem in Cairo, trust me I'm a Dr, of sorts...
The thing with Sunshine was, as I said to Pearl that our 'little basta**s will rule the world one day,
we just have to teach them, everything the computers those kids broke....
'anyhow power is back I'm off to watch Mr Holmes 2015,,,,

ST-You talked about your experience with some Catholic charities. That is fine.

But then you went off on some imaginary tangent in the same post suggesting that I had badmouthed your involvement in such charities.

Maybe you were trying to draw some sort of analogy but honestly it wasn't at all clear what it was supposed to be.

As for my comment on "learning" above well I think you took it a bit too literally. When I said "learn" I meant more like "hear" or "figure out," certainly NOOOOTHING to do with any sort of academic learning. Again, you've gone off on a rather irrelevant tangent here about education etc. etc. when it actually has absolutely nothing to do with education. That chip on your shoulder must be a big burden to carry.

Now come on Glyph, we have all been playing nicely today, then come the evening it all goes pear shape. At this rate I am going to have to have a word with an old friend of this forum, who has evidently helped out here on a number of occasions,..........she goes by the name of AGNUS CASTUS.

Some of you on here are going to have to look up this dear person on the Internet, but believe me, she has worked miracles on HERE in the past,.............without any one knowing it. :wi .

I got no chip on my shoulder GD.I work hard, train nurses ,albeit with practical experiences!

I thought I was posting an "experience."Comparing it to things in Luxor/Egypt.Just an innocent post..no malice intended!

But you saw fit to disregard it and state that your post had "nothing to do with me!"

Well, who else offered their opinion? Not Hepzi..although you seem to think she has a great deal of knowledge on the subject!
Why's that?

Your comments were "that your post had nothing to do with me!"

That's actually very offensive and condescending!

Anyway,we're still waiting on an answer as to why UK has withdrawn it's funding..and I certainly ain't gonna let personal differences stand in the way of an honest answer.

@ ST

I refer you to the initial post of Kaiserbernese :

"As a sponsor of the Sunshine Project for the past few years, I was shocked to receive a letter from the UK based fund raising charity to say that, as of December, they are withdrawing all funding and closing down the UK side.
Sponsors were advised to cancel their direct debits asap.

Apparently they have had some concerns about the treatment of the children and also the finances. They are giving Egyptian trustees until December so that they can arrange support from the Egyptian government. "

Says it all really....and I doubt anyone on this forum knows much more than that.

Efforts are being made to keep the show running in some form or other.

I wish them luck. They'll need that...and a lot more.
