We have 3 big filters on the main water income and a further 5 filters on the kitchen drinking water supply, all have now been changed and still not different.

I probably have the same filter system as yourself, but feel it must be something to do with the canal still in flood 4 days now and highly unusual…

The canal is now receding, so be interested to note any changes…

I suppose the filters I got could be useless, but in 5 years i have not had any bad ones before.
Changing the filters is one thing...but did you very thoroughly clean the filter housings? The odour comes from them.

Had the same problem once when we had been away and therefore no flow through them for a few weeks.

BB, when I change the filters I always clean the housings out, like yourself I suffered this problem after being away, you are right they really give off a terrible smell when left for some time.

I have a posh filter thingy in my kitchen but that doesn't help much when I have thrown my kit off and am cleaning my teeth at bedtime and get a gob full of swimming pool when I slurp from the tap. Classy bird that I am

Seriously it is worth the investment in a reverse osmotic filter - they are invaluable for great tasting water. You get reminded to replace filters every few months, and the membrane once a year......simple! ( and you have a separate tap so good to know its pure )
Some of the RO systems are very expensive but this one is very reasonable.

I don't have a plan......so nothing can go wrong!

It seems to be clearing now, so must have been the main water supply. Interesting indeed!!

But instead of the ornate pond and fountain, dig a well, and have the pump move the water to the rooftop storage facility you should have in place by now.. :cg

No! filtered water, when the water is ok we have around 20 bottles filled up and stored in the fridges, the only thing we use tap water for is washing up and bathing. Would not use it anywhere around food and drinks.

I have just been reading Al Ahram about the tap water, albeit its in the North of the country.

So the canal level drops after 5/6 days and your water seems to get better somehow I see a connection.
Drove to Ramla on the old Ezba back road today the amount of houses built on the flood plane without raising the ground level is amazing and amazingly stoopid…..

Last year Dr, many of them were flooded and people had to move out for a few months, you can still see the water line. I am surprised the Government let them build on flood plain, but there you go with money you can do what you want, and get the permissions you want. The best thing is that they do not realise that the flood water builds up from below so when the water rises so will the septic tanks, and soon the raw sewerage will flood everywhere, lovely!! But the children will still swim in it.
