He was sworn in this morning, arrives on Monday. His name is Dr. Mohammed Sayyid Badr, born in 1973, and he has a PhD in political science and economics. He's been working for the cabinet and the IDSC previously.

As I posted earlier this week, here today gone tomorrow.

In answer to the Dr's above comment, I am not sure whether he is married, as for if he is happy and rich, well if he ain't, we all know he certainly will be by the time he leaves Luxor. If he speaks English or not, I would imagine, his predecessor has told him to avoid it at all cost,.......saves a fortune on Aspirin, :wi .

I know this much: the photos circulating purporting to be of him may not actually be of him.

That's interesting because the one I've seen is a man who certainly looks much older than one should if only born in 1973. In fact it is a photo of man more likely born in 1963 or even 1953!

Wait till he meets his flag-clad 'groupies!, me ? 'I would 'out-run the road runner…. bip bip
Be honest, it will take a strong man to handle Luxor, running places is not easy, everyone's moaning about everything and still he has to come up and implement his plan, which hopefully he will elucidate to us all when he is ready…shwia shwia, new job new broom..

I think the word 'groupies was unkind, so I share this with you..enjoy!

Even if that is the case, I doubt it would make him rich OR happy!

I've just read this article which was shared elsewhere. (I know nothing about the origins or reliability of source other than as given.) Two points stand out which I have highlighted.

FEBRUARY 07, 2015
Who Are Egypt's New Governors?
BY EGYPTSOURCE

Several university professors, two judges, three generals, a former columnist, and several government officials are among the seventeen new Egyptian governors who were sworn in on February 7 in the first governor reshuffle since President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi came to office. New governors have been appointed for the seventeen provinces of Alexandria, Giza, Luxor, Ismailia, Kafr al-Sheikh, Mounifeya, Beheira, Daqahliya, Gharbeya, Sharqeya, Damietta, Assiut, Fayoum, Beni Suef, Sohag, Matruh and Port Said. The remaining ten governors will stay in their positions, including the governors of Cairo, North Sinai, and South Sinai.

Four of the new governors are under the age of 45. The youngest appointee amongst the seventeen is governor of Beheira, Mohamed Soltan, who is 38. There were no women or Copts among the new appointments.

Sisi had announced a governor reshuffle was expected by the end of January, while Minister of Local Development, Adel Labib, told reporters on January 13 that the cabinet will present a list of proposed governors to the presidency. On February 5, Sisi approved the new governors' reshuffle proposed by Prime Minister Ibrahim Mahlab. The delay was due to the fact that candidates will serve in office only for two months, which resulted in many nominees turning down the positions.

Anyone notice this in the press report?

"Sisi had announced a governor reshuffle was expected by the end of January, while Minister of Local Development, Adel Labib, told reporters on January 13 that the cabinet will present a list of proposed governors to the presidency. On February 5, Sisi approved the new governors' reshuffle proposed by Prime Minister Ibrahim Mahlab. The delay was due to the fact that candidates will serve in office only for two months, which resulted in many nominees turning down the positions."

Not much chance of anything of substance getting done before they are out of a job again.

Presumably this is connected in some way to the elections coming up.....although I thought the appointment of governors was down to the President and so outside the electoral process :tk
