Luxor Pharaohs Motorcycle Club.

Post by Luxor Pharoahs » Sat Nov 29, 2014 3:35 pm

Luxor Pharoahs Motorcycle Club is pleased to announce our next meeting. This will take place at the Agriculture Club, near the Morison Hotel, on 13th December 2014 at 6.00pm. Please note the time change.

Once again we wish to point out these meetings are completely free of charge, the aim is to preserve lives, and cut down in injuries.

These seminars are aimed at local riders, to try and change their road habits, to help with riding skills, and to show the effects of motorcyclist who do not respect road craft or other road users. So will forum members with local friends that ride motorcycles please spread the new. Thanks

The hotel is the Morris Hotel, save any confusion.

Some of the topics for discussion at the next meting,

Overall Stopping distance's (Including thinking and braking distances), including, how wet and dusty roads, have an effect.
Road surface and the effects it may have on a motorcycle.
The effects and probabilities of using your mobile for calls and SMS, while riding.
Overtaking and Undertaking other vehicles. Traffic lane etiquette, and maneuvering properly.
The need to make other road users aware of what you are doing while riding. Signalling, slowing, changing traffic lanes, overtaking etc
One way road systems and the delay (Traffic Jam) effect caused by not adhering to the correct flow of traffic.
The use of illegal substances and the end results while riding.
Further discussions on Night Time Riding.
Motorcycle madness video
Video on one mans trauma, following the accident, showing the emergency room, operation, and end results on how it effected his family and children. (Graphic)
We look forward to meeting local people and their families.

I know exactly what you mean Zooropa, but you have to make a start somewhere. We are hoping that instruction backed up by video and pictures of what may happen to you by not following traffic etiquette.
We are finding that this method is more effective rather than just talking about something and not backing it up.

A great thing also that is making people sit up and listen is, by asking them, "Who will look after your children and feed them when you are injured or killed with no money coming in"-"How will your children feel with no father to grow up with"- These are all true statements that the answer does not come forward from, and the room often falls silent.

and the room often falls silent

Probably cause they will be thinking Allah is with me, Allah will provide etc... your going to have hell of a job convincing them otherwise :tk

Anyway a start has to be made somewhere, I am aware of quite a few of the pitfalls like the ones mentioned though.

Rather than ask them who would look after the children etc why not explain that some accidents may stop them having children in the first place.
