Kidnapping on West Bank?

Post by jewel » Mon Oct 07, 2013 11:48 pm

I heard tonight of a young (local) boy having been kidnapped on the West Bank and a ransom demanded for his release. Anyone heard any more about this? It would appear that these "gangs" are becoming more prevalent, I do hope the boy is found and released unharmed. :(

God knows, but what's going on? Where are the police and security, I haven't heard any more details about this case, but it doesn't sound good. :(

you will find that these things happen fairly often Jewel, and not just on the West Bank, they do this to get money, I know of at least 5 over the past 2 years. Normally they just end up extracting a few bob out of the parents and family and that's the end. Normally you are looked at for a while to see if you look wealthy ie big car, splashing the cash etc.

I don't know about the East Bank but on the West Bank families sort out their own problems and mishaps. with all that has been said on here over the past few weeks the West Bank has had no regulation and no proper Governing for years. Its a case of East Bank rules when it comes to getting the cash to do things, and West Bank gets left behind all the time to fend for itself. However if you have cash, you can get anything on the West Bank, unless this gets changed soon of course. We will have to wait and see, if we start getting a few privileges thrown our way.

At least they are willing to give him back, sometimes they are kidnapped to be sacrificed to jinn in order to get access to buried treasure.

Sadly they do not realize that the true treasure lays within their own people, but continually abuse that which they have been freely given.

Don't bother trying to get a pizza delivery now!
I understand a ransom may have been paid so hopefully the lad will be returned unharmed soon.

Yes I realized that, I am well versed with those little trouble making jinns as my friend states quite openly that they have one of the little critters living in their house. I suppose it gives comfort that something that can not be seen can shoulder the blame for mishaps. Nothing worse than pointing the finger and getting it wrong.

It seems I was being told about a previous kidnapping.
I have just heard the demand is for 2 Million LE! As if an ordinary village family could find that. I don't think there would be that much available in the whole of Gezira right now.

I remember once mentioning to an Egyptian friend that I thought I caught sight of something out of the corner of my eye, the TV was immediately turned on and a Koranic channel found, I was told that I had to leave it on for 24 hours, then put it on at different times during the next few days. Apparently a Jinn had taken up abode in my flat. But because I played the Koran for 24 hours and then at different times of the day and night ( to surprise it in case it had sneaked back in) for a week I got rid of it.
The same friend had a nephew kidnapped in Qus, his family were quite wealthy but not in cash terms, a ransom was demanded negotiated and paid, the child was returned safely BUT the incident has not been forgotten and in time the family will get revenge. My friend said it may take years but eventually something will happen to the "best" of the family responsible for taking the boy.
As with the dispute between the Butchers and the Gypsies here in Luxor war between the families can break out at any time.

These are different jinn. These are the ones the pharaohs put in place to guard their buried treasures. They often demand child sacrifices to allow someone access to the treasure. There was a child kidnapped in Luxor in August 2010 for this purpose but he managed to escape before he was killed.

This is getting out of hand. A girl of about 15 was taken earlier today near the school. The police are everywhere and there is much discussion in the village.

I have read elsewhere (yes the dreaded FB) this evening that the girl has been released. I hope this is true and that she is unharmed.
In the same post I read that the young man was still missing but the police hope to get him back soon - whatever that may mean! Let's hope it is true and he too is unharmed.

These gangs that are doing this should be dealt with by the police, but it appears that people are afraid of them, and think they will kill the hostage if they do. :P it's a no win situation it would appear at the moment. Pray that the boy is returned unharmed.

I am suprised the Police were involved, especially due to the fact the kidnapping was on the West Bank. Normally communications and bargaining stay within the family.

The children that managed to escape or returned to their families were very lucky. Twelve months from last Ramadan my friends youngest sister [18] was kidnapped and found with a bullet in her head on the West Bank the following day. The boys responsible were eventually caught, 16,17, and 19 but are still languishing in a prison cell waiting for the court case to start after a year. The family are demanding the death sentence. Kidnappings in and around Luxor is nothing new according to my friend, its just that for some reason more and more are coming to the public's attention.
