Continuing Lawlessness in Luxor

Post by Assade » Tue Jul 31, 2012 1:18 pm

Last night, within 30 yards of the manned Police/Military checkpoint in my street, fire bombs were thrown through the windows of a parked car outside the building where I live! A crowd of about 50 people gathered but the Police/Military just watched from their checkpoint! Of course I kept my doors locked. Incidents like this do not encourage me to continue to live here.

That does sound rather disturbing, are you in Luxor or on the West Bank?

Whereabouts do you live? And was this an isolated incident do you think or are such things happening regularly? And have you any idea what it was all about?

You never know, it might well catch on, like 'septic fruit cake serial-killers, but probably the car owner owed money, no big deal.

Come on Who2 let a person report any news they see or hear in Luxor without taking the **** out of what they report, Im sure most of us know that crime statistics are bigger in some other parts of the world. BUT quite a few of us live here and most of us WANT to know what is going on in our surroundings, maybe it can help us to take some precautions, like when all the bike thefts were happening I brought my motorbike into the building.

Today I saw somebody drive the wrongway around a roundabout.
Today I saw 4 people on a motorbike.
Today I got ripped for 2Op.
Today I told someone to try taking off their 'rose bloody tinted glasses, before leaving safe little GB.....
I wouldn't even give the buggers the TV remote.

I ignore, probably like most forum members, everything who2 says and certainly do not respond to his stupid comments.
By the way I live on the East Bank.
My main point was that the Police/Military were only 30 yards away and they did absolutely nothing. Scary if I was being attacked and they just watched.

Now let's not be unkind. It seems some poor soul needs help sorting out their medication, again.

I am now leaving the forum as I do not want to be associated with such stupid people as who2. Is he so stupid that he has nothing of real importance to say. No more will be heard from me.

About 3 weeks ago on the road near Tutotel (opposite side) (about 11pm) there where many guys with big wooden sticks smashing some cars up there and others were fighting, I was at the HSBC cash machine and watched more guys turn up with sticks, the police and army just watched, I was going to go to KZ after the bank, but drove down to St josephs hotel and all way round to avoid this problem.

When an ostrich buries its head in the sand so it doesn't have to 'see' what is right in front of its face and acknowledge it it also leaves its posterior quite open and vulnerable. Bury your head, make statistical comparisons but what is happening is happening and something as Assade describes would not have been handled this way a couple years ago.

Seeing police lounge whilst watching a car burn IS extremely disconcerting and should be too.
