Do you think in your wildest dreams, I am going to give details of such information that has taken me years to obtain, and often at cost, to such a person as yourself, who in less than ten words, is almost demanding I supply such information. This same person who's only previous direct response to me was on Thursday 14th June 2012, which was one of the ruddest comment I have ever read on here, with the exception to that of which you wrote on here, with regards Glyphdoctor, who we have never heard of since. She was capable of writting more valuable information in one paragraph, than you have ever written in your total output on this site

I myself am too polite, but I am sure many on here would tell you and your side-kick to **** ***.

Oh dear, Oh dear!

Calm down dear! It's only a commercial! Well, website, forum, or whatever!

Checked out Teddy's posts on that day and can't see anything untoward. Unless it was he post referring to your 'closed circuit' humour, and the fact that you direct your posts at your 'in crowd'. Well, that, whether you like it or not, is undeniably true. And all this, 'in three days I will be telling you this or that'. What's all that about? Suspense building or what? If you've got something to say why don't you just come right out and say it like anybody else? You don't need the drum rolls....

And why won't you tell Teddyboy your secrets for getting one's entitlement out of the system? Because you're one of the rich who pays people to help you exploit the loopholes and you don't think he's entitled to be in the club? That's very elitist of you, but sadly, totally in character. I'm not having a go at you A-Four, because we have been good friends in the past and hopefully still can be in the future. Who knows? Stranger things have happened! But you're not averse to making some really hurtful comments about people, yet can't tolerate even a whiff of criticism yourself. If you can dish it out you need to be able to take it back. As I think I might have previously said to one of YOUR 'sidekicks!'

And did Teddy say something to Glyph that sent her running for the hills? Well that's courage above and beyond the call of duty in my opinion! Intelligent and well informed she was for sure. But bigoted, blinkered, arrogant, needlessly argumentative, and a pernicious bully she also was! And you had plenty to say to her as I recall before you seemed to do a bit if a u-turn in that regard. Same with Jane Akshar, who's absence you later lamented. These 'strong' women you see! Nothing but trouble! And thank heavens for that! :D

A_Four, believe it or not, but I do deliberately try not to be rude! Some of the posts to which I have replied have actually incensed me, and tempted me to reply in a rude manner, but I never reply in haste. I prefer to allow myself a little time to cool down before making any response. And no, in my wildest dreams, I certainly don't think that you would supply such information, as I don't believe (even in my wildest dreams) that you have such information!

Elsewhere, another contributor has also accused me of being "very rude", but I cannot see where that rudeness is supposed to be, either! Perhaps we have different ideas of exactly what "rudeness" means? If it's to question a pompous statement, or making an attempt to gain useful information from one who seems to be gloating that he has it, while us "plebs" don't, then I suppose that I'm guilty! Likewise, if it's pointing out a few home truths to someone who loved to lord it over "lesser, foreign, beings" (as the case with another exchange might be described) then, again, I'm probably your man.

But please don't take time off from "getting smashed" to try to trade insults with me, as I will not respond in kind. Neither would I stoop to using "naughty schoolboy language".

BTW, who is supposed to be my 'side-kick'? I know very few people on here, Stan, Hatusu, Shareen, but not well. I've met Keefy, very briefly, a couple of times, and the same with Jane Akshar and good old Choccy! Surely it cannot be one of them?

My daughter was a Sister at Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital, so when people talk of the National Health Service they maybe should talk to her, she now lives in Australia (Brisbane) and would never dream of returning to UK hospitals. The horror srories she told us, makes your blood boil. Waiting lists, people on trolleys waiting for treatment, lack of ward staff, low moral, low pay, having to go overseas to promote Nurses, because they could not recruit in the UK, the same for Doctors. They once took a plane to the Phillipines to recruit.
I remember tents being put up outside the A & E to try and make waiting times. People died on trollies in corridors waiting for treatment.

I appreciate that this is a very new hospital and maybe its finding its feet, but the stories we heard were worse than the stories we here from Luxor International.

When I was young and we still had Matrons in hospitals things were run properly, now its a case of money rules and is goverened by managers with undermanagers, that also have undermanagers, that have secretaries that have deputy secretaries, that have Gofors, and under gofers, and it goes on and on..........

On saying htis I still believe the Nursing in the UK is still the best in the world, maybe the managers should be made aware of this and make sure they are well looked after!!! and not treated as numbers.

Having read and posted on this facility, Mr and Mrs Choccy decided to go and have a look for themselves. after we had been on a tour of the Medical Centre we came out feeling so relieved, it is the mold that all Medical facilities in Egypt should be based on.

The first thing it was absolutly spotless, not a bit of dirt or grime or dust anywhere, not even over the tops of the doors. We were told how it worked so ex pats should not be frightened of using it at all even if you are poor you will see what they can offer is more than you expect. I will not put details on here because I would encourage people to see it for themselves and learn what is on offer. There is an ICU and a CCU room there, both of which are fully loaded to cope with everything thrown at the specialists, who incidentley are flown from Cairo if the capabilties are not in Luxor. The Operating theartre is like the inside of a Tardis, so the good forum Doctor might be interested in seeing this. The recovery room again is fully loaded with defiblulators, 24 piece monitering unit etc etc. The wards a double and a single again are beautiful with each bed having Sat. TV and International phone. again the monitoring equipment in the wards are in abundance.

They will tell you the fees to see a Doctor, and also a Specialist that visits from Cairo every week, and they are certainly not expensive, if you think they are then God help you, you must be living from hand to mouth.

They have their own medical car that pick you up from anywhere in Luxor and West Bank and they have a hotline for emergencies, they have portable Defibulators and monitors that come to you to stabilise you before admitance if that may be the case.

Every bed is electronically adjusted, as with the Operating table, that is so advanced it can be altered to every position without pulling the patient to bits.

It is staffed 24/7 by Doctors and nurses.

I do not normally go overboard about new facilities in Luxor, because even when new they are Draconian to what we are used to. But this place is extraordinary, its like they have brought little Europe to Luxor. Modern, Clean, Affordable Well Equipped, and should be used as the mold for every Medical Facility throughout Egypt.

My advice is that you call in and have a look at it, you will be very suprised, because of what we have been used to. Its open for visitors when not busy. I forcast this facility will grow and grow. Well Done to the person that came up with the idea, and going for supremacy.

That's all good to hear Choc. Although obviously it's the level of expertise of the medical staff that's the bottom line really. Hopefully they're as up to date as the facilities! If they are then this really will be a welcome resource in Luxor. Can't believe you actually checked the tops of the doors for dust! Now that's thorough! :)

I am really pleased to read that there is another medical facility in Luxor, which at least offers those that can afford it some choice.

I am a bit bemused however by comments such as 'It's spotless..' 'It has all the latest medical gadgets...' 'It is staffed 24hrs a day...' etc. I am not knocking the reporters of such revelations but I am wondering what they were expecting. It is a brand new medical facility that charges for the medical services it provides. I would expect nothing less than it being in brand spanking new pristine condition with all the latest equipment relevant to the care it is offering.

I wish this new medical practice, it's staff and those that have the need to use all the best in the future, but it is only time that is going to tell how good it really is.

I personally believe that it will expand, and not too far into the distant future. I think those that have time should take advantage of seeing the place and having a tour. I am sure you will agree with my comments and be very suprised. it really is top notch... for everything including the prices, and they freely give this information to you.

I think they have a blanket Medical insurance and you contribute to this, at a rate of 40$ per week, and become an insured person liable for full treatment.

Coming up in the next few month for the ladies are Smear tests, and Mamograms, thus ensuring peace of mind for you, a very welcome thing and something that will help many of you!!! I am sure this is something that many ladies do worry about, and of course it brings a little equality in treatment, something that can be missing in this Male dominated place we live.

Thank you all, especially Mr Mrs Chocco!!! :D this is indeed a huge comfort. I will not worry about full blood work before I leave Istanbul next month, it costs here....and I will go and inspect this new facility myself and see how it goes with an intro. Before going I will talk to Dr B and get his view on it all. I am sure he will be biased and honest as always, and, will also be glad, if not excited, of the prospect of the area FINALLY getting what is well deserved. Luxor has been home to the English since the late 18th and early 19th Century. The Eygptian people are and will do their utmost to keep is coming back and making our lives there. It's good to read so many positive views on life there. I am looking forward and excited for my transition and hope, in cha allah to meet up with you good folk at some point.

Thanks again everyone.

Oh yes sir indeedy!
They are regulation 98 denier NHS Nylon and are resilient enough to fend off the most toughest grappling patients you can throw at me! They of course are held up by a bona fida Garter jobby, which in the event of ex-pats coming to me, I can use to round up the ones who are can gain by my ministrations, and slingshot those who will have to pay!
By the way, I will take Baaksheesh (any major credit card taken) Yous pays yer money, yous get some treatment! I will even stretch to them new fangled elastoplasts rather than sticking you together with that orange fabric jobby! ;)

LONG STAY VISAS...URGENT PROBLEM OR NOT????

Post by Georgiaturkiye » Tue Aug 07, 2012 5:10 am

somebody has raised an issue I hadn't, until now, given thought to...........I kinda know the procedure for long term visa's but the statement about 'how long the Egyptian government will be permitting these long stay visa's' has pushed alarms bells in my head. I am making my schedule now to relocate to the area, home an all!! via ship!! if there's any doubt about long term visa issue I may need to re-think my thoughts.....this is indeed a concern for me right now. So if anyone can calm me down on this I would appreciate this very much. I will talk to my local friends later today, and also to the Egyptian Consular here in Istanbul to find out if they know anything. Looking forward to some positive news......in cha allah......I do not need another stumbling block right at this moment in time yanii!!

Thanks guys

Yes Teddyboy I have had my moments, although i can only just remember them. The first time my hand 'accidentally' touched one of these confounded contraptions i discovered, at the age of sixteen in the pictures, that i was very against the feel of nylon fabric. Could never touch the stuff again. :stp
