The Sycamore Gap

Post by Who2 »

"Hardly Yardley!"

Woke up this morning and 'la whaala' my dead eucalyptus tree (carfor) on the kitchen patio
decided to fall down..
16370
Crushing the bridge bush and breaking iron stanchions, but missing the lovebirds cage, tree surgeon arriving at 4pm.

So, we went to visit my pal Ragab over in Ramla, he's just built a new family home in just 23 days,
after falling out with his Dad.
It's on the back road just past the new mosque, brilliant location, it was on his wife's family's land

So, all the new villas have been visited by the caterpillars & police... they are widening the road, why ?

16373
That's just a couple but they have done lots more and havn't yet finished..

As they say "buyer beware" ha.... 8)

Whilst the 'tree surgeons have debated sizes, prices are now changing an supping their chai's.

Whilst I'm not knocking Hadrian's Wall and Mel Gibson my piece of wall is a few thousand years older.
Was trapped under a 35 year old dead eucalyptus tree, but not damaged...

So, apart from rebuilding the canopy, relining the canopy, fixing the steel struts and myself taking
the whole thing 'quite quite casually, this is what the two boys from La Galata cut up & down for £15.5 squid a bargain,
I'm sure Ahmed hassles good..

16377

So, tree down, clean up and then back on to the Lotus Pond Project, inshaala... 8)

When Stan first arrived to live on the WB, he was rather adventurous, and often walked up on the hills, he got to know a number of the old foreign Dr's. Between us we knew quite a few of them. I always made it clear to Stan that if he wanted to 'see wonderful things' then a camera was a big no no. On agreeing this over our time we did see some remarkable tombs, which even today are closed, which is very sad.

What is even worse now is that the whole area of the hills are now closed, not only are there security cameras along the roads, but throughout the hills. No longer is it possible to go off track like the old days, and study like before. Tourism on the WB is strictly controlled, even in some of the temples such as Ram III.

I do honestly believe that no longer are tourist or even perhaps future Egyptologists able to walk the old hills as before, would have effected him, perhaps even more than the present day price for a bottle of Stella. (The price in his days was 8LE a bottle.)

6 Days, from desolation to a new bridge canopy, completed by 10pm last night.
Not so bad, Stella's and 'smokey comestibles all round.
