Water

Post by carrie » Thu Dec 06, 2018 6:50 am

Yildez kindly sent me a link saying that the water will be off in some areas from 7am tomorrow till 7am next day. Don't know if it applies to us here on the west bank but I will be prepared.
The area affected according to google translate is the centre and city of Luxor and its accessories. Further info (if your lucky) 095 228 2406.

Egypt is a hot Country, water & electricity supplies are often interrupted.
Take a tip put a water tank on your roof it's cheap and no more problems qed..... 8)

Recently replaced our GF/plastic water roof tank. The sun had made it go brittle and it was cracking up. Landlord is planning to put up a sun shelter over the new one to make it last longer. Only cost 650LE for the tank and about the same for plumbing work so it is not expensive to have done. We barely notice a water cut other than slight loss of pressure. Tank is regularly purged and refilled to keep it fresh.

My GF tank is surrounded by a foam and metallic sheath then over that a canvas cover for aesthetics and it keeps it cool.... 8)
Ps: I also have a 6 x filtration system for drinking water, serviced monthly.

Oh, this is what I heard:

Statement of the High Commissioner

The Water and Sanitation Water Company in Luxor announces the water interruption at 11 pm on Friday, 7-12-2018, and until 8:00 am on Saturday, 8-12-2018, on the center and city of Luxor and its dependencies, as well as the center and city of Bayadiya and its accessories.

This is in order to complete the linking works for the Eastern and Western Luxor Water Stations on the new existing lines on Khalid Bin Al Waleed Street within the project of improving facilities in Luxor.

The company calls upon citizens, government agencies, bakeries, hospitals and tourist establishments to manage their water needs to fill the deficit in that period. The company also provides drinking water cars in vital places. Please call the hotline op

erations room 125 or 0952282406 - 01147999752 in case of any emergency.

sounds like when completed it may stave off water cuts, which can only be a good thing and worth putting up with today's cuts. Our reservoir's were almost dry and we were desperate for rain, but over this last week we have had terrible storms, Lightening, Thunder and very heavy rain, so the reservoir's are nicely full again and the dried up greenery is starting to show signs of revival. Everyone is really pleased.

I was told that the local news stated that the water would be off from 8am untill 11pm for three days starting tomorrow. No doubt the water bills will show the costings of the work. :td

Hmmm, I sent the original info to Carrie, wishing to be helpful. Guess what? I've had no water today - how water cuts in Luxor can affect Datca I've no idea! It's a mystery!

Well I have had no water cuts today so perhaps there's a crafty little pipe that runs across the Med pumping your water this way. Have you checked your meter Yildez, you know I'm the Datca water expert.

My meters fine Carrie, 8 tonnes of water in credit! Trish hasn't had any either, nor the harbour area, so they must be doing something major! It's back on now, thank goodness!
