Vodaphone .Dongal

Post by Who2 » Mon Jun 02, 2014 10:39 pm

Be careful and watch the usage of Vodaphone Dongal for two months now I have been short changed the amount running out at half the time. My monthly 250le bundle ran out after only 11 days and I do-not download films. Very Suspect to say the least....

What you have observed Who2 is quite correct, this being one of the reasons I ditched them after many loyal customer years. When I started to watch Ontv my allowance was 20gig. [240Le per month] Never got to the end of the month before I had to top up. I'm now with Etisalat [140Le per month with a faster speed than V] this gives me 7gig + 7gig free each month. I watch the same amount of Ontv and have never ran out. :up I an now thinking of going over to Etisalat for my phone. Another point worth mentioning is that up to now I have had no bad connection when friends have been complaining of no service on V. :up Another thing that P's me off my is the constant flow of text 's from V when most people are attempting to get to sleep. Tried to block them but not possible, but with E you can.

This my complaint to Vodaphone:
Dear Sirs, For the past 2 months my 250le bundle runs out in May it lasted 12 days and a 110le bundle lasted 7 days, what is happening here is theft on a grand scale. Most ex-pats here use computers and mobile phones and all in Upper Egypt are contact-able if this continues I will be informing them as to this practice.
Also I receive on average of 6 unreadable useless texts on my mobile can this be stopped ?
If No response to this email will leave me and the people I know to transfer to Etisalat.

Just an observation-I have seen repeated complaints from Vodaphone users in this forum. I don't know if that is because most people here are Vodafone users or just because they are terrible at providing service. But in the past before we had DSL we used Etisalat exclusively for 3G service and now use Mobinil as a backup to our DSL and I can say we have had good service from both. And I note I have never seen any complaints here about either company.

My phone gives a loud beep when I receive a message and continues to do every minute until I have read the message the number of times it has woken me up just to tell me that I have won a secret prize and if I call this number than I will find out what it is, unbelieveable. Went to vodaphone to see if I could get it stopped but hey ho no way. I have had my number for many years and am loath to change it but if this carries on then I will.
When and if you next contact Vodaphone, Who, tell them that they have yet another unhappy customer.

Double ditto :stp

... and on a final note, for once in my life I should of kept my gob shut :up as later on this morning after singing Etisalat's praise, the system crashed for four hours.

Where is the Etisalat shop?

Can anyone advise how much it would cost me to buy a dongle and sim and what tariffs are available?

I currentely have a Vodafone usb but I suspect the sim would have been deactivated since last October?

The main shop is near the top of TV street, opposite KZ supermarket. The dongle costs 115Le, which I think is a bit of a rip off. The lowest plan is 20Le per month but you can top up at any time. They also had some good deals for mobiles but didn't look into them as at that time I had no interest. You may be lucky to find someone on here with a spare dongle or could lend you one for the duration of your holiday because as you know, we expats are an accredited helpful lot of so and so's. :up

After 8 automated emails from Vodaphone and nothing has been achieved I am moving to Etisalat and advising all to do the same. What a totally rubbish company. They even sent me an online survey as to their performance regarding my complaint, what a joke!...

Just a thought: have you tried sending your complaint in Arabic? You might be more likely to receive a reply. ;) ;)

We gave up with Vodafone 3 years ago. Absolutely terrible service and completely inept at resolving a simple issue caused by their own error. We switched to Etisalat for our mobiles and also have an Etisalat imodem for use when travelling or home backup. Le199 for a year with 1Gb per month. The imodem software makes it easy to monitor usage as well.

Another Dongal related question.

I have a Vodaphone dongle for my lap top. I'm convinced when I return to Luxor - no date planned - even though there is credit on it that it will be blocked as it was last time.

As the dongles use a sim card, can you use the sim from a competitor in a dongle bought from Vodaphone? OR Is like mobile phones and the dongle is 'locked' in to the company? I know they are not expensive to buy but it seems wasteful if not necessary.

Im guessing I will be in the same boat as you as I have a Vodafone dongle.

Will be interested to see the answer to this! :D

Yep who2 you can now take your number if you can deal with vodaphone pissing about for 3 months, telling you 4 weeks when you start. Etisilat will give you a temporary number while you wait.

I have a deal with etisilat for 240 a month for 20g on my dongle and 2 mobile phones and still cant use up the whole allowance.

I take it that you are on the fastest speed offered Robbo for your 240Le a month? I was quite sincere when I stated that I had never had the problems that I suffered with V, but since replying and making this statement I've had nothing but trouble, loosing connection several times while on here, very slow to load up. All I can put it down to is that my recommendations and statement as to the benefit of changing over to Etisalat proved so mind inspiring to the masses that they received an extra million subscribers, hence the slowness of mine.

I find my dongle works amazingly well in the mornings when half of Luxor is still asleep and not pimping themselves on yahoo chat in the internet cafes :D It does slow down a bit in the evenings, but in fairness, the connection on my mobile phone is super fast at all times.
Living right behind the secret police can have me with no connection at all, as they hit a jamming device if someone important is visiting. I just sit on your old sunloungers and admire the views until the calvalcade of cars leaves again 8)
