I don't ban anywhere. I just avoid any place with loud music. What did Egyptians use before Electricity?

Belly dancing etc. is not exactly my idea of a pleasant evening out but each to there own, I hope it goes well.
Was there belly dancing Carrie?
Where now is there belly dancing in Luxor? And who goes to watch it?
Do women enjoy the grace of it and attend?Or is it now just a form of tittilation for Egyptian males(of the less salubrious type)and tourists?

Not sure that there are that many tourists now in Luxor to enjoy such a thing.Even when there were tourist discos there, most of the Egyptian women I knew likened the dancers (there to entertain tourists)to prostitutes!

I've never heard of this restaurant before. Is it a new venture..and who do they cater for mainly?
Egyptian men/families,ex-pats..or tourists?

I've actually lost the plot here with what the people in Luxor's lifestyle is!
What exactly do Egyptians do in an evening?

The ones who work sleep at intermediate periods throughout the day.Their kids run riot in the night time, some of them go to coffee-shops with their parents, and cause chaos, whilst their parents assume no responsibility whatsoever!Others beg in the streets and abuse and hassle tourists!
How on earth do these kids get up for school in the morning? They must be constantly knackered..and that's their parent's fault! No routine,no discipline,etc..so where do they learn respect for neighbours, noise levels, etc?

And all the while this is just accepted as a "lifestyle?"As is their anti-social behaviour. As is showing no respect for neighbours,Egyptian or otherwise.
Here in Scotland they would be served with an ASBO(anti-social behaviour order)In Egypt/Luxor,it's just all classed as a "lifestyle"and culture!

This kinda stuff ain't funny! It's ok for a two week tourist who wants to see and hear something different..but for a working person there, well they must get really fed-up and tired with it!

Leave it out.
Lets all go to Luxor and hand out asbo's, you'll be with MT wanting traffic lights, crash helmets and traffic wardens next.
Stay at home with your 'elf&safety and no smoking pubs & restaurants and leave us be, we like what we have so bugger of to Margate and give them some grief.
Tourists who needs them ? 'not me said the eskimo....

Anti-social behavior is a British concept that is not found elsewhere, thankfully! It's not something that exists in Egypt. Egyptians are SOCIAL, not ANTI.

A tad disingenuous.

Anti social behaviour exists everywhere. It's recognised by WHO and the American Psychiatric Association amongst others.

What distinguishes the British is their preoccupation with the subject and their efforts to deal with it by means of legislation.

It's not even a term easy to define and different societies have different concepts of what is acceptable and what isn't. Therein lies the problem for some Brits who have settled in Egypt

I used to like music when I was in my teens and early twenties, but suddenly lost interest. I absolutely loved my music to reverberate and thud through the walls, my open car windows, no matter what the time of day or night. I didn't give a toss who I irritated with this sound, usually rock and heavy metal. Now, when walking past new shops that have opened, with ten thousand decibels blasting out, the celebratory marriage buses passing with honks and shouts, the wailing of bagpipes. Never do I mutter complaints, I just close my ears to it all as I pass, because I was probably far more of a constant public nuisance in my past than these temporally sound bites can ever be. They haven't got much in life to cheer them up, so leave them be to enjoy themselves. Loud Mosques? Love it.
Life is your's to do with as you wish- do not let other's try to control it for you. Count Dusak- 1345.

Excuse me "D" it's not the wail of bagpipes, it's the Skirl of bagpipes, one of the most stirring things to get people motivated for battle.
Uhm! Aunty Social! Is that the new name for the UK benefits office?

Oh come now MT even you must admit in some people's hands or mouth's or whatever they wail and that's coming from someone who loves the pipes.

Well I do hope when I visit I can come away with a good review.
Rather than just a couple of people who thought it would be a 'good idea at the time, with absolutely no experience of cooking, running a restaurant, catering & hospitality skills whatsoever.
Which I am sad to say seems to be the case as in most ventures in Luxor.
I started at aged 8, at my Mother's side, then catering college, then West-End apprenticeships, restaurants, bars and clubs.
"People who think that they can just 'swan into this business and be successful really need a good kicking!...end of rant!...
Ps: Her next door cooks a better Tagine than any restaurant I've experienced in Luxor....
Pss: For 'stepping stone, I sold my gaff ages ago to my pal, so 'her next door won't get my old adobe hacienda anyhow, Shove that in your files.
Unless of course my pal marries her which I am planning...

If she is doing real Moroccan Tagines I'll be over much better than the Egyptian Tagines (which I also like).
Poulet au Citron one of the World's best dishes.

We do that quite often, having a very fruitful lemon tree in the garden. With our own twist of course. :)
